Alive

That's what I am right now. It's the best thing I have to say. I'll start with the good news. I recently settled on a working title for the novel I've been writing. "Olivia's Untitled Story" is now known as "Once A Pawn." I thought it was cute. Now, to the rant.

I graduated in May, thinking I would have the summer to get a job, then start working in December after spending a semester beginning a Biodefense program and RAing.

What really happened: I couldn't afford graduate school, so I'm taking one class for the program. I also realized I needed a real job ASAP and decided to drop the RA job, rather than risk having to leave in the middle of the semester if I began to work full time. Somewhere in there we discovered I wasn't eligible for health insurance under my parent's policy anymore because I wasn't a full-time student, and that I'd apparently been uninsured since the end of May. Frantic to find something, I began calling places to see if they'd insure me (because there's no way I can afford $2000 a month of AEDs on my own.) Most of them won't. COBRA is $500 dollars a month. I signed up for three classes at the community college to become a full-time student again and be covered through the end of November, which gave me a bit more time to find a job and/or a policy that's a bit cheaper than $500 a month.

Somewhere in all this, the economy crashed harder, making jobs appear to be even harder to find. We're now in the process of (Hopefully!) moving because we can't afford our mortage. To help with the financial strain, I'm expected to find a temporary job and move out, or start paying rent. Someone needs to explain the rent part to me. It would make more sense if my parents paid by the person living in the house, but they don't, and might even make sense if they didn't owe me a lot of money, which they do. Now, I'm not arguing against the job. I applied to some and recently got accepted as a substitute teacher for Fairfax County, only to learn that my mom is considering moving to Loudon because my brother got expelled. Even this wouldn't be so terrible IF I could drive myself to the job, but I'm still unable to drive because I'm STILL having seizures.

Long story short: Between moving, full-time classes and getting a temporary job, I've got no time left to find the coveted real job that will put an end to my current woes.
