Thank you. =) Yes, I'm well aware of the tendencies of the 8059 fandom, and I don't understand why Yama has to be so dumb. -sigh- He's just...shielding, and laughing at everyone internally. Except that he's nicer than that description. It's hard to pinpoint him.

Hmm, Yama's got the potential to be perfect, and that burden is what makes him develop his imperfections. He's not an intellectual genius (he leaves that to Gokudera), but he's pretty smart. However, he thinks that brains come as a matter of genetics and not hard work, so he hates flaunting his intelligence. He's also afraid people will tell him to stop playing baseball to focus on studies (well, Goku does that sometimes, but Yama's afraid he'll be forced to stop baseball altogether), so he'd rather do what he likes rather than go off in another direction he isn't so fond of. Of course, this stems from his insecurity that if he tries to be academic, he'll never be as good as others, and he won't be popular anymore. The really screwy thing is that he's aware of his insecurity and fear and they seem shallow to him, so he's sometimes guilty of not working at his brains. That's why he focuses in on some intellectual subjects (such as hacking) in order to help Gokudera. So...he's not perfect because he's emotionally torn between two paths, but he's so lovable because he's not perfect.

And yes, that was me spewing out my interpretation of Yama.

I totally agree concerning Yamamoto’s insecurities. I think Gokudera and Yamamoto are actually both preoccupied by the way they appear to their family and friends, but in different ways. They are both afraid of disappointing, of not to be loved anymore. Concerning Yama, it is not as obvious as for Gokudera because he makes us believe that he didn’t mind at all about how he looks, but it seems it’s quite the opposite and this aspect of his personality is well developed in your fic.
