Hello all. The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the Federal Abortion Ban that criminalizes abortions in the second trimester of pregnancy, regardless of the woman's health. Read about the details here.

Now, I don't care who you are or where you stand on the abortion issue. The most ethical thing to do is leave women the freedom to make value and bodily judgements for themselves and not force your opinion on others. If you don't like abortions, fine; don't have one. But the people who do get abortions have reasons for doing so. It's bad enough that the federal government doesn't care whether or not pregnancy will physically bring distress to a woman; the federal decision also invalidates each woman's individual opinion.

Honestly, there have been several cases where women have not known they're pregnant until the second trimester. (Yes, stress by itself can actually stop the menses.) As well, even if a woman decides that she doesn't want to spend many more months being pregnant and does not want to deliver, keep, or give up a baby for adoption, that is her prerogative.

In a socially logical perspective, let me tell you what happens when abortions are illegalized --they happen anyway, and usually in unsafe ways. If a woman doesn't want a fetus growing inside her, will she really have to wind a hose inside of herself in a dingy back room or stab her own uterus in order to freely make decisions about her own body?
