"Allow me to set the scene;

The queue started forming at 5am, despite the heavy rainfall. Being near the front is all important, for those at the back will be disappointed and their pain will continue. By now the line actually stretches over the horizon, further than the eye can see. People young and old alike, standing... waiting... hoping.

So, where and when is this sorry scene? Africa? Some far-off war-torn land? The poverty stricken former USSR? A country recently fallen victim to a natural disaster?

No. This is in fact a part of 21st century life in England."
