Super, super, super great weekend in Melbourne!!! Unexpectedly full of laughter with
larutinadiaria and her friend, Abi.Ü
Day One: Friday - Melbourne!
I woke up at 4am for my 6.30 flight...or so I thought! I misread my ticket and I thought it was 6.30...6.15 pala! When I got to the check-in counter, it was 6.15 sakto and they couldn't let me go onto the flight na. = ( Hassle lang cos I had to pay $50 to go on the next available flight which was 30mins later. Haaay...pero sige, ok na lang. It was my bad and I guess there's no use crying over spilled milk so sige.
Met up with Den finally and we just walked around the city trying to find a locker where we could leave our stuff before we embarked on a day of shopping. Abi, her friend from college, still had work so we were gonna meet up with her later na in the afternoon. Den and I walked on forever and we couldn't find any place that rented lockers. We decided to go into one of the backpacker places and ask if they had any. We ended up in this really dodgy backpackers called The Elephant Back Packer and the dude there was so scary! We left our stuff with him for 5 bucks, no receipt and he kinda just left our luggage inside this little closet, up for grabs for just anybody! After we left, Den was so suspicious and scared that our bags might not be there later.
We then went to Bridge Road for a bit of shopping! We saw so much stuff! But I was on a black pants and black closed shoes buying mood and I didn't find any. I got this super cute, very preschool-teacher-esque green bag for $10! And a nice lacy sleeveless top for also $10! Den found some really neat stuff too. Like her two knitted cropped cardigans.
We then had a really late lunch along the street and then more window-shopping before going back to the dodgy backpacker place to get our stuff. Buti naman it was still there. God I super love na Melbourne right away...just for shopping spots alone! Melb really has way, waaaay better shops than Sydney. Den said she read somewhere na next to NY daw, Melb is the best place to shop. There's a lot of variety. Parang mas na-feel ko yung culture. We saw really nice vintage stores, too.
This one's somewhere along Flinders, sa parang eskinita and it's this big vintage store talaga that sells everything from leather jackets to leather boots to vintage t-shirts, dresses, purses, vinyl records, sunglasses...etc...
We finally headed to Abi's flat near St. Kilda Beach and we were supposed to go out that night but we were just so tired we decided to stay in and watch Amores Perros on DVD. Syempre Den is the biggest Gael fan! We had dinner at home with Abi's flat mate, Rita. After Amorres, we watched American History X just because Den hasn't seen it yet and Edward Norton's on Abi's Fitmen List! Fell asleep halfway through the movie then woke up 4.30am to Den and Abi still chatting. We ended up going to sleep 6am na! Rita was inviting us to go on the Great Ocean Road trip with her colleague from work but we weren't prepared for it so we just planned on going to Chapel Street the next day.
Day Two: Saturday - Chapel Street!
Best shopping place in Melb, IMHO. Bridge Road had nothing on it but I also liked Bridge because you really have to hunt for bargains which is the fun in shopping, really. But anyway, bought green Havaianas and a nice journal which I will turn into my Travel Journal. We also had tea and coffee with their other friend from London, Libby, at Angelucci's.
I was so inspired with my Travel Journal idea that I really wanted the three of us to have those photo-me pictures. So while we were walking to catch the tram to go home, we decided to do it na. It was $4 so when we went inside the booth, we had been posing there na for so long, trying to figure out what faces to make. As in we stayed there for maybe 10minutes deciding if funny face, glamour shot, wacky, normal face...whateverwhatever. Nakakatawa cos after this whole time na ang gulo gulo namin inside the booth, wala palang camera! Anobaaaaa! So, to use Abi's term, SG na lang kami! Sariling Gawa with Seth na talagang black and white pa!
Ibang level ng ka-weirdohan ang photo session na ito that lasted for maybe 30 minutes! People walking outside were wondering what we were up to! Super tawa galore lang kami inside and non-stop pictures. There's heaps more than this! Then we went grocery shopping because Abi invited some friends over for dinner so she and Den went Nigella Lawson on me and made chicken, spinach and mushroom risotto. Yummmm! Good one Den! We watched Se7en and One Night in Mongkok that night with Alex, Heidi and Jackie.
This is Alex.
He's also and AIESECer. He and Abi lengthily discussed about American Imperialism just by talking about the movie Pearl Harbor. Apparently, he's really into Asian movies. Actually, movies in general.
bumandbummer, I have now met someone else who is able to name all these obscure Asian actors, movies and directors! Super pwede kayo mag-laban in Asian Movies Jeopardy! I swear I have found your match! Hehehehe. Pero takot syang manood ng The Eye, daig ko pa sya. At hindi pa nya napapanood ang Saw. Pero medyo ok na rin sya cos favorite movie rin nya of all time ang The Godfather.
Day Three: Sunday - Fitzroy Street and Cookie
Alex volunteered to take us out in the afternoon before his meeting at 6 so we went to Grocery Bar in Fitzroy Street and had coffee. Then we went to the city and because he was appalled that we were supposed to go to Frostbites Friday night, he took us to this place called Cookie along uh, Collins Street. He suggested I try this beer called Hoegaarden. It's a kind of weak beer from Belgium. Not too bitter and has a lot more flavor than my usual San Mig or Red Horse. Not bad, if I may say so myself.
We also played this game
nivleklive and
bumandbummer taught me before. The Fuck, Chuck and Stuck game. Na who would you choose among three people to fuck, get stuck with or chuck. Pero Alex had a same game na different name lang, it's Do, Date and Dump. Masaya sya! And also a lot of Would You Rather...? questions. Like would you rather sleep with an 80 or 8 year old? or 60 or 6? or a fetus or a corpse? Yuck super ang morbid and kadiri namin noh? And Abi always has this Or Death! choice. Kahit ano, Or Death ang katapat! hahahaha!
When Alex left us na, we had dinner at a Jap place called Meshiya. Den had some really great news that night so she treated us to some Gyoza and sushi. Nakakatawa yung Gyoza Meat. Walang meat inside. Den was like:
D: Uh, we ordered Meat Gyoza?
Jap girl: This is Meat Gyoza.
D: But it has no meat.
Jap girl: All our customers react that way.
Tapos medyo proud pa yung pagkasabi nya ha! So we were like, uh, okay. Ngeh! Parang kami, take a hint noh! Ibig sabihin siguro dagdagan nyo ng meat!!! Lovely dinner pa rin nonetheless and they both gave me a rundown on all the different people they met from AIESEC. Super tawa lang kami from all the kwento! Made me real excited to meet them! Lalo na si Death boy!
Then went home na to find Rita there exhausted from her Great Ocean Road trip. She showed us her photos and it was Great nga! We were so happy she decided to go with her friend even if we didn't go cos she would've just been bored with us and all our laughter and walang kwenta moments!
Day Four: Monday - Back To Syd!
We spent the whole day in bed just talking! Kakaibang usapan and of course, super tawa ulit! Abi is way cool talaga! I can't believe we got along really, really well! Pareho kami ng mga dislikes when it comes to actors, whether foreign or local. We're planning to go see Den naman in Canberra sometime in October for the Flower Festival na may Rock N' Roll theme! Same pa kami na gusto pumuntang Fiji and Great Barrier Reef! Galeng lang talaga! Too bad lang talaga she's going back home na end of November. =( Hey you and Den promised to cook at my housewarming party ok? Hehehe. Wala pa tayong theme. But sa going away party mo, Pimp N' Ho na talaga! Karir-level yon! Yey! Death will be me!!! Hahaha!
Den, super thank you again! I really, really enjoyed this weekend with you! It's so great to finally catch up and get to spend time together. I'm so happy for you about your good news! You super deserve it! =) I'll visit you soon!!! Ma-Or Death na ako! *mmmmwah*
I had so much fun! Melbourne is really cool! It's more ma-artsy fartsy. I think I'd love to move there in the future.
