Automatically open folders in treeview

Jan 03, 2012 16:26

I come offering a computer customization for the new year. It has been a while since I last post a computer customization article, eh? But who in their right mind would post a computer customization article when she does not own a computer

So. Our (read: me) motivation for this computer customization:
Ever since I reformatted the computer at work damn you IE! But that's another story , I have been plagued by the fact that I cannot make Windows Explorer to automatically open Shared Folders in tree view. Try as I might, but it all amounted to nothing. XP still refused to grant me my wish of seeing the folders in tree view. I was in despair. Everywhere I see, the world was in a muted tone of gray. The world no longer appealed to me, now that I could no longer make windows to automatically open folders in tree view.

But one day, god decided to grant me my wish. I saw a streak of hope. It was in the form of Google. Oh, the joy! My heart leaped. I could feel blood flowing in my veins again. I can now see sunshine and hear the birds chirping again.

This is the story of how I become alive again.

Make Windows Explorer to automatically open your folders in treeview:

1. Open Windows Explorer
2. In Tools menu, select Folder Options
3. Click on File Types tab.
4. In the Registered file types box, look for [NONE] Folder
5. Choose [NONE] Folder by highlighting it (clicking on it)
6. Click Advanced button
7. In the Action box, choose (highlight) explore
8. Click Set Default button
9. Click OK
10. Click OK

Ta-da! Now you no longer have to suffer from sleepless nights thinking about treeview again.
