Dark Charm Chapter 6

Mar 16, 2010 22:49

Okay. I'm sorry if this chapter was a little boring because it's pretty much how Kyuhyun met Ryeowook but I thought that I should put Kyuhyun's first impression somewhere. So I decided why not here. I do like writing in Kyuhyun's point of view but I don't think I'll be able to do that for too long because Ryeowook's going to need it for the stuff I plan on having Kyuhyun do. Again, sorry if this is long and boring. It'll get better. I needed to show Kyuhyun's side of the story. It takes two to be a true couple right? I didn't edit this so excuse any errors. I never edit. Lol. I hope you enjoy. Please remember this is fictional so the facts about them aren't necssarily true. Enjoy I hope.

Title: Dark Charm
Chapter: 6
Pairings: Kyuwook, Henwook (not here)

I think people call that an indirect kiss? Do they?

Six

Kyuhyun fell into the comfort of his clothes strewn all over his bed. He wasn’t the neatest person but he found his room manageably satisfying. It was comfortable. However, he had never invited Ryeowook over because the boy would probably freak out and start cleaning his room. He had been to his room and seen how spotless it was. The closest to imperfection in that room wasn’t even the owner’s fault. It was Kyuhyun. He had marred the pristine white room with a gaping hole. Kyuhyun was proud of that. It was nice to stump Ryeowook’s necessity for order. If he could, he would do it again. However, that probably wasn’t the main reason. If Ryeowook entered his room, he’d have immediately taken to cleaning it. And Kyuhyun doesn’t like competition. He doesn’t like Henry.

Today was different though. He didn’t care about Henry. Kyuhyun was even laughing at that dumpling cheek guy as he giggled from other thoughts.

IN YOUR FACE, MOCHI!

YOUR CHEEKS CAN’T SAVE YOU NOW!

He couldn’t really stop himself from giggling silly. Only the same few thoughts tickled his mind in a pleasant way. Normally, he didn’t like being tickled but he didn’t mind this.

He knows. He knows.

Kyuhyun was still laughing to himself. The world turned back when he closed his eyes. This allowed him to hear the voice even clearer. This allowed him to hear Ryeowook’s voice clearer.

“You love me more though?”

He could see Ryeowook better like this too. It didn’t help him stop that giggling but then again, he didn’t know if he really wanted to. He felt good. This felt good. Kyuhyun started randomly flinging his arms and legs in the air, sending some pieces of clothes fly off the bed. He flipped over onto his back, no longer sprawled on the bed, and pulled his limbs together. If he was going to have another one of those attacks, he’d do less damage this way. It took him a little while to finally relax his limbs. At last, Kyuhyun was able to pull himself back from that memory.

The day was still blue as the light poured into his room. He had skipped the rest of the day because of that. Kyuhyun didn’t believe that he would able to face Ryeowook or keep from smirking at Henry. He had barely been able to think straight after lunch and he knew this when he found himself at home instead of his sixth period History class. Even more, it had taken him about an hour to get home when it usually took ten by bus and thirty on foot. It was probably for the best though. Ryeowook wouldn’t be home for another hour or so. This gave him plenty of time to calm down because he had just started giggling and flailing his limbs about.

Instead, this time his mind had travelled back. It had travelled all the way back. To the time of his first meeting and impressions of Ryeowook. To the time when he had first knew about how he felt for the boy.

It had been a month since he had transferred to Shu Pa High School. It wasn’t anything special and perhaps it was even worse than his last school. There were always girls fawning over him at every break time. When he walked through the hallways, they would stare at him from behind their textbooks. That didn’t help them. They were still so obvious. The guys were the same but in a different way. They only tried talking to him because there were usually girls lingering around him. He was a chick magnet, a natural one. It wasn’t always a pleasant thing though. People only had eyes for him but never ears. No one tried to be his friend.

One day, he had finally escaped the eyes of his peers and found himself in one of the quieter hallways of the school. It was the secluded Music wing. There were no lockers around because there were no Music homeroom classes. This was also one of his favourite hallways because it was always peaceful and not cluttered with voices. Kyuhyun loved his class too. It was pretty much the one class he enjoyed going to. He pulled the hoodie of his sweater over his head just in case someone walked by. He didn’t want to risk giving up this spot. He had nowhere else to turn.

This is when he heard someone singing. It was a nice clear voice. It produced smooth notes that translated nicely into each other without any strain. Kyuhyun leaned closer to the room containing the voice and shut off his mp3. It was one of the few times when he thoroughly enjoyed someone’s voice. Kyuhyun still thought to himself that he had the better voice. He had always thought that, but this one wasn’t all that bad. The only imperfection Kyuhyun could find in it was the broken English. That made him chuckle a bit. It was amusing how the high yet strong voice produced such lovely music while faulting the pronunciation of almost every other word. There was cuteness in that.

So everyday, for that little while, Kyuhyun ate his lunch while listening with one ear against the door, trying to intake as much as the pleasant voice as he could. Kyuhyun never really did look into that room for owner of the voice. Although he had always tried imagining what kind of face or person held that wonderful voice. Kyuhyun would always imagine. He didn’t want to disturb that person though. He didn’t want the singing to stop. So Kyuhyun would always silently leave early. Sometimes rather secretly, Kyuhyun sang with the boy if he knew the song. He would keep his voice low so that it was enough for just him to hear their secret duet. He would adjust his voice according with the boy to produce the best collaboration. This was all just in his mind though. It was his secret.

About a month later, the boy had finally stepped out of the room before Kyuhyun could leave without being discovered. Kyuhyun always had his large hoodie pulled over his face to help disguise him. In brief surprise, he finally met the person. He was a small boy and stood a couple inches shorter than Kyuhyun. He carried sharp cheekbones that were a bit mismatched for his cute face. Well, the boy didn’t exactly look cute, there just seemed like an innocent youth in him. He wasn’t exactly how Kyuhyun had imagined him to be. Kyuhyun had imagined someone a bit more confident. This boy was looking down at Kyuhyun with a big pout. Insecurity was rising in his eyes as a tint of pink spread over his cheeks at the awareness of a spectator. The boy quickly dashed down the hall without even looking back. Kyuhyun smirked at the cuteness of the embarrassment.

Kyuhyun had found some information about that boy. He had two classes with the boy, Ryeowook, but the boy must be blind because he didn’t show any signs of alert or panic or blush when their eyes met again sometimes. This disappointed him a bit. However, this didn’t stop him from coming back again. And every day, Kyuhyun came back. And every day, Kyuhyun left early to save the boy some embarrassment. There were a couple of times when he was found out again when Ryeowook would stick his head out of the door and glare down at the dark hooded boy smiling lazily at him. Those eyes grew wide with awareness again.

“Yah!” The cute boy yelled. His voice was adorably annoyed.

“Yes?”

“It’s not very nice to listen in on someone.”

“Okay.” Kyuhyun smiled at him in amusement. The cuteness of the boy was making him smile a lot more than usual.

“Yah! Did you hear what I said?”

“Yes.”

“So?”

“It’s not very nice yelling at someone you don’t even know.”

Kyuhyun could see the heat rising in the boy’s face from under his hoodie. There was a victorious smile on his face. He looked back down at his lunch and reached for his food when he was intercepted by something.

“Yah!” Kyuhyun growled angrily as he watched his food slid rapidly down the hall. Ryeowook had kicked his lunch all the way to the end of the hall.

“You can go and eat there!” He matched Kyuhyun’s glare for a second then slammed the door behind him. However only a second later, the boy softened up and Kyuhyun heard lean against the door and quietly say, “please?”

Kyuhyun chuckled at the childish vengeance Ryeowook had taken on him. He was also amused by how quick the boy had been to apologize for something as silly and small as that. And for the first time in a long time, he realized that he was laughing inside. Someone had actually yelled at him and dared to even kick his stuff. It wasn’t even just his stuff. It was his food. Kyuhyun loved his food yet here he was, laughing quietly to himself like an idiot. He was laughing, not angry.

And even more, he returned every day back outside the Music room and listened to Ryeowook’s passionate voice. A voice, like his, that loved Music and Music loved it back. Kyuhyun came back and practically waited for Ryeowook to stick his head outside the door and find him there. He waited for his food to fly across the hall. He waited to hear that voice say sorry every time too. And sometimes, he thought that maybe there was something wrong with him for always coming back to receive this kind of treatment but when he heard that voice, the thought went away. He didn’t think when he heard that a voice, he only knew things. He knew that he was amused.

However, it wasn’t enough like this. Ryeowook still didn’t know who he was because there was no sign of recognition even when Kyuhyun stared at him in the eyes during class. Ryeowook would only look confused then annoyed and then away from him. This annoyed Kyuhyun. It annoyed him that they were actually so close but so far at the same time. They were actually very close.

About two months from his transfer, Kyuhyun had had a lengthy argument with his mom too about being forced to take the bus. He hated buses. They were always loud and obnoxious and he wasn’t able to run away from the stares he got. However, he had to take the bus. His mom had said something about having to pick up his sister Ara from her school and drive her to her piano lessons. He cursed at Ara in his head. In the end, Kyuhyun, begrudgingly, took the bus.

The realization that they took the same bus had been quite a shock for him. It knocked his breath out to see the shorter boy standing and reaching up to hold the bar beside him. Ryeowook had to use a little more effort than he did to reach the pole. It was funny because while Kyuhyun was relaxed and barely holding onto the metal, Ryeowook stretched his arm and was firmly holding it. He would usually swerve and wiggle a bit when the bus turned and Kyuhyun guessed that he wasn’t very athletic. It was cute though and sometimes Ryeowook would slightly fall against Kyuhyun. And this slowed his breathing completely for a second. So he finally thought that perhaps taking the bus wasn’t all that bad.

They took the bus together for three months in silence. Kyuhyun would always stand in his usual spot beside Ryeowook. He watched the boy fumble through songs on his little black square mp3. He liked this because it caused the boy to lose his balance occasionally and Kyuhyun would be there to bear some weight. With each day, he drifted closer and closer to Ryeowook until the sleeves of their uniforms touched. He would shield his eyes with his long dark hair and secretly watch the boy. Soon enough, he started liking buses.

An even bigger shock came to him on that first day when the two of them had grabbed for the wire on the wall. Both of them had felt the pull stronger than they expected and then looked at each other afterwards. Looking at the cute boy had just cause Kyuhyun to freeze inside. Taking the bus was one thing but living in close proximity was another. It was a lot for his mind to digest but for Ryeowook, it wasn’t much because he simply looked away and walked off. Kyuhyun nearly missed getting off because he couldn’t believe his good luck.

So that day, he followed the boy from a distance. Kyuhyun couldn’t hide his curiousity. He promised himself that the moment, he saw the boy enter his house, Kyuhyun would be on his way. Watching Ryeowook’s back was pleasant even if it would’ve been better to walk beside him. It sufficed for now because then he could hear the little voice sing as Ryeowook walked. This put another smile to his face. But the shock and amusement and awe he received when he saw. Kyuhyun saw Ryeowook enter his apartment building. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Everything in him was jumping. His heart was jumping. His mind was jumping places too; to places it shouldn’t be but could be.

He watched Ryeowook enter the elevator while he hid behind a wall. There was no way he could stand in that elevator with him right now. He was having too much trouble keeping himself still. The moment the doors closed. Kyuhyun drew away from safety. He was taking a chance. Well, it wasn’t really a chance because it was just really a yes or no question. The chances were slim though but he had to know. He couldn’t help but hope.

Kyuhyun tore up those stairs like he’s never done before. He’s never run that fast, ignoring that pounding heart in his chest that’s pumping like crazy. Kyuhyun didn’t stop when his muscles ached for oxygen. He didn’t stop for air. Those eighteen flights of stairs just flew under his feet. Kyuhyun saw the walls of white just blur past his eyes and kept looking forward. Running past each door that didn’t hold the number he was looking for.

So when he reached the door and peered through the square glass window at the top, he saw little movement and heard the click of a door closing. Kyuhyun remembered that door as he slid down to the floor, muscles tearing as the large inhales of oxygen slowly calmed them. He could feel his heart crash recklessly against the walls of his chest. There was too much to think about. It was a lot to think about. His mind was jumping again. Perhaps this was a chance. And in the first time in Kyuhyun’s life, he thought that maybe there was a purpose. Perhaps he was meant to meet Ryeowook. Kyuhyun was optimistic. Just maybe, Kyuhyun could finally find someone to hang out with.

So after a few minutes of resting, Kyuhyun walked down the hall. Staring at that door as he drew nearer and nearer and then stopped before it. A wicked smile spread over his face and he couldn’t tell if he was coughing for air or chuckling. Kyuhyun just knew he was feeling unbelievably lucky and tired and confused and mostly, happy. This was just the beginning.

It was a beginning.

Kyuhyun felt something cool lingering over his face. It was running lightly through his hair. Kyuhyun knew very well what it was and let it have its fun. He had heard the click from the other side of the wall. Ryeowook was home. A smile had spread over his face but he quickly erased it when he heard the latter softly fall onto his bed and slowly creep over to their wall. He just relished in this moment with the cool touch grazing over his hair. However, it didn’t take long for a satisfied smile to break out again. Kyuhyun quickly grabbed for the hand before it could escape.

“Hi.”

“…Hi.” Ryeowook whispered, feeling embarrassed that he’s been caught. “So you caught me.”

“Yes. Happily.”

“I know it looks weird but… I’m not…” Ryeowook sighed and fumbled with his next statement. Kyuhyun smiled at the cuteness. Boy, he was too cute.

“I’m not a pervert. That’s all I wanted to say.”

Kyuhyun let out a chuckle as he kept holding onto the thin arm that was awkwardly trapped in the hole. He was enjoying this too much. He loved making Ryeowook feel wierd because that led to good things happening.

“No? I think that was quite creepy just now.”

“I…no…I didn’t mean for anything bad.”

“No?”

“No!” Ryeowook squeaked loudly. Kyuhyun imagined that the other hand had immediately flew to his flushing face. Stupid hole. He should’ve made it bigger.

“So what was that then?”

“I don’t know. I just saw you there and I wanted to…I don’t know.”

“You know.”

“I just wanted to ruffle your hair.” Ryeowook sighed feeling very defeated by his witty best friend. He knew he shouldn’t have done this. “It’s not my fault that you look so nice and peaceful and…handsome…when you’re sleeping or pretending to.”

“I’m very thankful that I wasn’t actually sleeping.” And Kyuhyun was.

“So can I have my arm back?”

“No.”

“Why?”

“Because I want to thank you.”

Kyuhyun brought the skinny fingers over his face and laid them over his lips. He heard Ryeowook gasp in awareness and the fingers tensed and began to wiggle but Ryeowook couldn’t really sense which way to turn them because he couldn’t see. So they just brushed over Kyuhyun’s lips and made him chuckle against the helpless finger. Ryeowook groaned on the other side and Kyuhyun pictured the boy leaning his hand into his hand out of embarrassment.

“Are you done yet?”

“No.” Kyuhyun continued into Ryeowook’s thin fingers. He felt them move a bit when his lips moved so he added, “You might have to wait a while.”

Ryeowook sighed and groaned and sighed again as he waited. Kyuhyun was thoroughly enjoying this.

“So…about what you said earlier. Are you really going to again?”

“Yeah.” Kyuhyun mumbled. “Why not?”

“Because I get a very big headache and heartache and… just pain every time you do that.”

Kyuhyun chuckled against the fingers. His breath must’ve tickled the fingers because they wiggled a bit.

“That’s a good thing.”

“No, it’s not.” Ryeowook retorted, annoyed.

“You just don’t know that.”

“How can pains be a good thing for me?”

“I didn’t say for you. It’s good for me.” Kyuhyun breathed out against them.

“Ugh. I never signed up for this kind of trouble.”

“I know.”

“You’re a pain.” Ryeowook scowled.

“I know but you still love me.” Kyuhyun countered.

“I hate you.”

Kyuhyun laughed at the stubbornness.

“Hey, can you let go-“

Ryeowook yelped in pain as something crashed into his skin. Kyuhyun howled wildly as he finally let go of the retreating arm.

“What the hell?”

“Hmmm….?”

“You bit me!” Ryeowook squealed in disbelief.

“Haha.”

“You bit me!”

“You said I was a pain.” Kyuhyun stated calmly as his justification of his actions.

“You didn’t have to prove that to me!”

Kyuhyun was laughing again. He smiled delightfully as he imagined Ryeowook bring his fingers to his lips, the spot where Kyuhyun’s lips had met them.

I think people call that an indirect kiss? Do they?

“You didn’t even bite just one! Three!” Ryeowook broke that thought.

“Yeah. That was fun.”

“No! It was not!” Ryeowook protested, annoyed at the unstoppable wittiness of his best friend. “I am never touching you again!”

“Awww…I’m sorry, wookie.”

“Don’t call me that.”

“Sorry, dear.” Kyuhyun smiled to himself at the change.

“Idiot.” Ryeowook muttered and then alternated between “stupid” and “idiot”.

“I’m sorry.”

“Sure.”

“I love you, dear.”

“Sure.”

“Really. You want me to make them better.”

Kyuhyun was laughing again as he heard Ryeowook jump off the bed, nearly tripping over the plushed animals he had sent flying to the floor after that. This should keep Ryeowook thinking about him for the rest of the night. He was never going to give Mochi a chance of a thought.

“Hey Ryeowook.”

“What?” Ryeowook stopped as he opened the door.

“I don’t think you could’ve done that though.”

“Done what?” He growled.

“I don’t think you could’ve stopped touching me. Look at what you just did.”

The door slammed.

Kyuhyun turned away from their wall and brought his hand to his lips. He didn’t want to be disturbed at this moment. He didn’t want anything to take away the feeling of Ryeowook’s fingers against his lips. He wondered what the feeling would be like if it weren’t the fingers but something else. The thought made him dig deeper into his blankets and pillows. It was a good thought though.

It doesn’t have to be a thought.

Kyuhyun smiled at his inner voice. That was a good suggestion and he was proud of himself for that. He let the intoxicating drowsiness put him to sleep. Another thought slipped his mind before he saw black for a while.

Next time I’ll do just that.
