wow jake, you have really thought about this a lot! you make a lot of good points but still, i have some things to say in response...
first of all, the problem with evolutionary theory is that it doesn't take into account individual or cultural differences. and i think that's pretty much what it comes down to. for example, yes, men are biologically wired to want to "spread their seed" as much as possible, but if a man chooses to take care of one woman and her offspring, then those children are more likely to thrive. also, think about this in a modern context. first of all, what man is going to want to go around impregnating as many women as he can? sleeping with them, perhaps... having lots and lots of babies, no. it's just not practical.
secondly, about the whole "dirty whore" thing... i completely agree that it is bad to label people. we all have different lifestyles and it isn't fair for a person to be stigmatized for their sexual choices. but i think that even though we try, it's hard to restrain from judging someone if he/she does something that we view as immoral. don't tell me that you have NEVER called a girl a slut before (at least in your head).
but yeah... you put relationships in a perspective that i've never thought about before and i think you make a really good point in asking whether love is an illusion. it probably really is for some people but i hope that's not how it is for everyone.
anywayyys... i guess that's it.

No...actually i hadnt really done any thinking on the subject. Its just that it was 7 in the morning and i was procrastinating writing my 2 page paper that was due in 2 hours.

Ya, im completely agree, but i wasnt trying to emphasize the praticallity of the situation. Just that these tendencies have in fact shaped our cultural values. Yes, its not taken to this extreme nowadays, but it still does have some bearing on how we view social situations, and stereotype individuals

No...i actually do all the time...probably more then most people. I was making fun of that fact that we all succumb to this, and if i went around punching every "gold-digging whore of a slut" (who just want to find someone who can take care of them) in the uterus i would get mighty tired...
