"Do you watch movies?"
Matsumoto Jun & Sakurai Sho
Arashi's first ever starring movie has been confirmed! Our theme this time around is "Do you watch movies?" for the film-loving Matsumoto & Sakurai duo, so they will surely be excited... or so we thought, but we weren't expecting this turn of events! So what was the reason behind their differing views?
Matsumoto: Do you still like the violent, more hardcore sort of movies, Sho-kun?
Sakurai: I mentioned this in this very serial in the past before, but I like independent films more than the mainstream stuff. So maybe I'm naturally drawn to those sorts of genres because of that.
Matsumoto: I tend to like mainstream stuff more, I think. Lately, that would be movies like "Ocean's Eleven" since I pick based on the people more than the genre.
Sakurai: Is that how you pick people you like? Sounds like we're getting a glimpse of Matsumoto Jun's human nature here (laugh).
Matsumoto: No no, that's not it. I pick based on the actor (laugh). Like Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.
Sakurai: That's why we don't see eye to eye when we go together.
Matsumoto: Speaking of which, we almost got into a fight once before, didn't we? For "L.A. Confidential".
Sakurai: Yeah, we did (laugh). I wanted to watch it.
Matsumoto: And I wanted to watch Leonardo DiCaprio, who was the most popular at the time. Then, we rejected each other's picks. We ended up not going that day, right?
Sakurai: The first movie I saw at a theater - not including when I was a young kid - was "Seven". I think my interest in that sort of thing started there.
Matsumoto: So grown-up. That was in 1995, wasn't it? I watched "Forrest Gump" wth my parents and bawled. I couldn't watch it to the end and got up from my seat midway through.
Sakurai: "Seven" is one of my top three favorite movies of all time, after all. Well, there's also ones I've mentioned before like "American History X" and stuff.
Matsumoto: In my case, it would be "Green Mile" and "Sister Act 2". And... I like movies like "Snatch" and "Edward Scissorhands" too. I watched "Matrix" on DVD the other day and it was great.
Sakurai: You really do like mainstream stuff, huh?
Matsumoto: Yeah. Let's go watch a movie sometime.
Sakurai: The romance stuff are lame so let's avoid those. I get sleepy even when I watch ones like "Titanic".
Matsumoto: I just thought of this, but you know how Rose was on that plank on her own near the end? If she shared it with Jack wouldn't both of them survive?
Sakurai: But he had to act tough in a situation like that as a man, you know?
Matsumoto: But he died. I don't like that.
Sakurai: We're totally gonna bicker again, aren't we? (laugh)
Matsumoto: Then Sho-kun can make the choice.
