Focus Chapter: Outsider and Suki

Oct 28, 2004 19:41

While Zakk started off to "find himself," so to speak, Outsider sat on a somewhat comfortable rock, next to Suki. They made small chitchat for a short while..
"Who is this Myrriak anyway?" Outsider ask.
"I'm not very sure. My village is located near a valley that is mist-filled year-round. One day, about.. seven years and a couple of months ago, he just walked out of the mist, crying and wearing some dirty clothes. My father, the village shaman and chief, took him in. I've cared for him since then, and when he displayed his powers for my father, and told him of this "mission to seek his counterpart," my father ordered me to accompany and protect him. We left the mist village just two short weeks ago.. and we've already found him. I was quite astonished that we found you so quickly, but Selnayd, he thought nothing of it." She explained. Throughout her review, Outsider kept his eyes carefully centered on her eyes, noticing just as Saxx had that she was incredibly beautiful. He listened to her words intently, though, and nodded when she finished.
"So, you've no idea where he came from? Does he ever talk about it?" Outsider asked further. Suki shook her head.
"No clue at all. Anytime anyone asks about his past, he ignores them. Not that he had much of one, and he might not even remember what little he had." She said solemnly. Outsider stood up, hearing something moving from behind the rough brush near the rocks in the valley they sat in. Although most of Outsider's powers were gone, his protective instinct for women was still fully active.
"Stay here, I'll be right back." He said. He wouldn't have paid the sound any mind, except he felt a presence there, and that only occured in powerful beings. He stepped toward it slowly, and sensed the thing bound off to his left; his body tensed and he centered himself low, then sprung out quickly, following it. It kept hidden in the shadows behind the rocks and brush, but Outsider could feel it and kept up easily. He reached back and unlatched his Torment, and leveled it in his right hand. He used the small amount of energy remaining in his body and the bit that had regenerated to form an energy spear, and he hurled it ahead of where the beast was, between two rocks. It struck a leg, Outsider assumed, since it fell immediately into the rock walls, toppling them down. Outsider jumped back to avoid being smashed, and jumped up on the fallen rocks after the dust cleared. The animal was a large, thick green slug-like creature with six legs, his energy spear stuck in its front right leg. It turned to Outsider, and it's small, rotund mouth opened, revealing three rows of sharp teeth. Its saliva spilled across the dirt, and it tried to back away, only to hit the valley wall. Cornered, it panicked and flew out at Outsider, aiming for his arms. To his amazement, the creature moved extremely fast. He tried to move to intercept, but his eyes widened as he realized he might not be fast enough to stop it.
