Grad School

Well, I didn't realize that grad school would be out to totally kick my ass. But that's exactly what it's trying to do. I have 5 classes that I will be taking and today, Monday, I got to experience just 2 of them....but that was more than enough for the first day. The first class I went to was Environmental Planning. The class will have 3 graded items, a midterm worth 10%, a final worth 10%, and get this, a paper that is to be around 150 pages long due in the middle of November. After hearing that I about died, and the groan that came from the rest of the class said they were doing the same thing. The next class was Environmental Management Systems. Here there are only 2 graded items. One is class participation at 20% of the grade, and the other is writing and auditing a Environmental Management System that is to be"at least 150 pages and not more than 300". Again there was a class wide groan at the mention of these two requirements. I can tell already that there will be a lot of people spending countless nights in the Grad lounge and the library working on these two requirements, and I just hope that we are not all fighting over the same reference materials. I'm hoping that the 3 classes that I have tomorrow don't have requirements like this.

On top of all the above, I have to start working on my thesis. I already know that it's going to deal with a Streamflow Synthesis and Reservior Regulation (SSARR) model of the Columbia/Snake River watershed system. At least I know what I'm going to be doing that on.

And I'm still working at Dairy Queen....though I don't believe that this will be lasting much longer. Just looking at the first 2 classes that I took.....there is going to be little to no room for anything other than being on campus studying my ass off. So over the rest of the week I'll be looking long and hard at wheather or not I'll be sticking around there. Made some good friends there, and enjoyed working there, but don't think that it'll last.

Well, I have class in 8 hours and I have got to get some sleep tonight.
