This nigga just got paid, son.
I'm so glad this week is over. I now have my mornings back. No more bad mellophone sounds. It's not that they're bad kids. Most of them just don't play very well and they can't retain information worth a damn. It was more frustrating than anything. I'm not going to get into it though. I just wish I had something to do this weekend now.
Whatev... I have a greater appreciation for band directors now that I've actually gotten some experience. I enjoyed parts of it and I'm glad I did it. Unfortunately most of the money I've just earned will be going to pay for the two speeding tickets I got this month. Yes, I got two speeding tickets this month. You might be wondering when I got the second one since this is the first mention I've made of it. It happened Wednesday when I was driving home from Northview. I was so pissed when I saw this guy come out of a neighborhood. I hadn't even passed him yet and he was all saddled up and ready to jump on my ass. He clocked me going 66 in a 45. Honestly, I know the law is there for my protection, but come on. Oh, and this is the best part.
Officer: Do you have any legal justification for going so fast?
Me: *thinks for a second* No.
Officer: Where are you going so fast?
Me: Home.
Officer: Home?! *as if he has no clue where that is or as if I'm on the wrong side of town*
Needless to say, I was royally pissed at the fact that has happened. I should obey the speed limit so that I don't loose my license. I'm probably one or two more tickets away from getting it suspended. It's not like I'm a bad driver. I just like to drive fast. It feels natural. I don't know what that's all about. I just can't physically stand to drive slow, especially after a somewhat stressful morning of teaching n00bz who can't get it together.
I'm a smart guy. I know about brass and I know about music. However, I am certainly not a miracle worker. Four (yes, 4) of these kids were just given mellophones at some point this summer, but have had no prior experience on a brass instrument.
WHAT. THE. FUCK?! am I supposed to do with that? I mean... let's be rational for one second. That doesn't make a damn lick of sense. It just doesn't. And I will not apologize for saying that or getting on to them for not sub-dividing, attacking together, playing with a full supported sound, and releasing together.
Okay... not getting into this again. Let me just say that people don't want to hear weak bands on the field. They're not going to stay and watch your show if you don't give them a reason. So you have to be good if you want people to take you seriously and recognize all of the hard work you put into this activity. Damn, at least be good if you're going to spend that much doing something. It's okay to be good.
