So it's been a few days since I've updated. I've been busy -- Julie came down and spent the beginning of the week with us, and I acted as her official chauffeur/tour guide of Portland. It was a lot of fun, as usual, with her. I love Julie so much, and I'm so thankful that we've been able to continue our friendship even though we live 2 1/2 hours away from each other.
I feel like everything around me is dying, or getting older. My pet goat from when I was 11 died on Wednesday. My neighbor (the one with 13 kids), had a heart attack on Tuesday (ironically while going to a funeral for one of his family members) and was rushed to the hospital. They don't expect him to live. We haven't heard anything from DeDe (his wife), and the hospital he is in is somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Montana. My grandpa has some sort of skin cancer in his face. They are treating it, and he also had to get hearing aids this week (which he was not happy about). Brandon's grandpa died today. Yeah, Brandon and I haven't been together for well over a year now, but his family and grandparents played a large role in my life for almost 2 1/2 years. Grandpa Dave reminded me of a leprachaun. He was always laughing and happy. And, he really accepted me into the family and loved me. I'll never forget the St.Patrick's Day songs and skiing, the camping trips, his and Grandma Vi's HUGE trailer, and the times Brandon and I went over there for dinner or just to visit. And....... the story he always told about how the Budweiser horses came and filled up that bar on his base, and how that is why he was a loyal Budweiser fan (even though he always ransacked Jim's good beer before touching his own Budweiser). My condolances are with your family Brandon (Britt or Brooke), if you ever read this.
I went with Colin to Portland today. I'm actually updating from his work www.viatraining.com . We had some time to spare, so we went out to Japanese food, and went clothes shopping at Pioneer Place & 23rd Avenue. After that we went to Powell's, then took the Max back up to his work. It has been absolutely beautiful, weather-wise here in the Portland/Vancouver area lately. I'm very excited for the summer!
