Well, things have been finalized. We will be playing at UWO at 8:00pm on February 27th in MB 102.
The program will consist of
Fantasmi - Marilyn Shrude (My teachers wife, a brilliant American Composer)
Phantom Galop - William Albright from Fantasy Etudes (American Composer from Ann Arbour. One of the most creative saxophone quartets ever written)
Mai - Ryo Noda (Solo by my teacher, John Sampen)
Howling at the Moon - Dana Wilson (American Composer from Ithaca New York, has written some decent band music)
Open Wound of the Earth - James Fusik (World Premiere of a duet my roommate and quartet-mate Jim wrote for this tour. Baritone and Soprano Saxophones)
Afternoon of Dracula - Robert Moran (American Composer big in the 60's for his chance music)
XAS - Iannis Xenakis (Greek Composer. Originally an architect, composed as hobby. WIdely regarded as one of the best saxophone quartets in existence. Also one of the most difficult)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iannis_Xenakis Seventh Heaven Rag - Stephen Rush (A fun rag in 7 / 4 to end the night).
I hope many of you can make it. We will of course be heading out for drinks and food afterwards.
It would be great if some of my old UWO friends could hear what I've been up to for the last 2 years.
Dr. Sampen will be giving a masterclass at 3pm on the same day as well for the Saxophone Studio at UWO.
For anyone in Toronto, we will be doing the same program at Wilfred Laurier University on Wednesday the 25th at 8pm. It's as close as we could find a performance space to Toronto.
Hope to see you then.
Andy
