Hi,
maboheme asked me to fill in for her today, and since she's fond of badass Castiel, and I'd been wanting to do some BAMF!Castiel recs, it works out perfectly. These are a few favorites from my bookmarks. BAMF doesn't necessarily mean fighting action -- it's all in the 'tude. These authors and artists never forget that he is an otherworldly, powerful being beneath the surface, or his determination, no matter what else is going on.

read this. An unusual, unexpected look at Dean and Castiel that beautifully entangles emotional and physical dynamics.

summary. Castiel is standing six inches too far inside Dean's personal space, and the two of them are playing intenser-than-thou while Sam fidgets impatiently with the strap of his bag and thinks about how it's a hell of a lot drier inside the car.
read this. Intricate and layered unravelling of the tensions and developing friendship between Sam and Castiel, with a terrific Sam pov. The author manages to show Castiel vulnerable and sympathetic, yet retaining a strong sense of otherwordliness and the power always lurking just beneath the surface.

summary. Castiel spends forty years in hell, searching for Dean Winchester.
read this. One of my favorite Castiel-oriented fics, this is every bit as epic as the premise suggests. The author shows the connection Castiel feels to Dean, believably remote yet intense, and how they change each other. Castiel's frightening determination to carry out his mission, and his pov, is beautifully rendered.

see this. A gorgeous piece of fanart showing Castiel as we know him in Season 4, a little rumpled at the edges but exuding power, and the artist's idea of a "fully graced" Castiel.

see this. A gritty, expressive portrait of Castiel. I love the details that contrast his outward ordinariness and the ways he is anything but. There's something quietly dangerous about him in this image.
