138: Wordsmiths
Writers who know how to put words together to create something not only readable, but memorable. A piece of writing that you can’t get out of your head, maybe you love the character, or the vivid imagery, maybe it’s the mood or the raw emotion, but it sticks with you long after you’ve read it. It immediately goes into your bookmarks or memories or rec lists. This list also represents writes that either inspire me to write or writers I look to when I want to improve my own writing. These are Sam/Dean but nearly all these authors write other genres as well: Gen, Het and RPF

I have literally read this more times than I can count. The way the words put together are magical, and her characterizations, especially of Dean, are spot on. philomel is what I would describe as a master crafter, her writing is put together in a way that is both artistic and functional. I also find her writing to be layered with metaphor and meaning beyond the obvious.

This story has a fascinating case that ends badly and emotion that is powerful and strong. candle_beck picks every word with care. Her men are masculine without being caricatures, they feel like the men you meet in everyday life, your husbands, brothers and uncles, both in word and action. There are always more beautiful lines than I can quote back and I am always left reeling when I read this author.

read this. reasontoread This is sweet first time schmoop with a dose of UST and a vivid OFC. leonidaslion is an all around strong author, with the ability to write angst, humor, darkness and schmoop with equal veracity and appeal. Many of my favorite stories by her will have humor interlaced with lust, or joy in her darkness, much like life, her fiction represents a range of emotion. This author uses common words in a way that will draw you in and keep you reading. She has an amazing ability to paint each and every character in vivid color, no matter what POV she is using.

Many of her stories are rhythmical and poetic in their feel. I find her writing to be languid and soothing and she has the ability to touch on a range of emotions. She is a master of lines, first lines that draw you in and last lines that leave you breathless.

You will live in the world she creates while you read her stories. She also has an amazing talent for strong myth arcs in nearly every story she create - myths with depth - convoluted and magical. Her stories are the ones that when they end will have you pleading with the author to write more.
reccer's note. I would encourage you to further explore the journals of these writers and binge on their writing. These represent one of my favorites by these authors and it was very hard to choose only one. Not only do I enjoy the recommended stories, I would not hesitate to recommend each of these writers overall for their body of work. With so many amazing authors in this fandom, I could have easily had ten times this many authors.
