407: tegaki!
I don't often venture off LJ in my fannish wanderings, mostly because I just don't know where to go. It's always a shock to me to find that fanlife does happen outside of LJ and fic-posting sites, and not only does it happen, it's just as vibrant and surprising and fun. My absolute hands-down favorite discovery of the past few months has been the art-blogsite tegaki. In tegaki, all of the entries AND all of the comments are hand-drawn or hand-written, and entries are filed under a system of visual tags, including a tag for Supernatural. Browsing the Supernatural tag for the first time was one of the awesomest moments of my fannish life. There are some amazing, creative, HILARIOUS artists over on the site, and some of the art-threads are pages long and end up reading like comic strips or mini-serial stories -- a person will draw an entry, and then commenters will comment visually and keep the story going. It's AWESOME and awesomely collaborative. So today I'm going to rec my two favorite artists, and a few of my favorite threads.
favorite artists. Haydenclone and EltheGeneral
look at them. These guys have technique and talent like you would not believe, and their subject matter ranges from the absurd (Hippy-chesters, Bobby in dresses) to the smokin' hot (Sassy, Destial, Wincest, whatever the pairing portmanteau, they've drawn it). They draw in many different styles, as well... chibis, line-drawing, cartoons, black and white, full color, grayscale... I have liked EVERYTHING I've ever seen from them. They make drawing look effortless, and I love the way they represent the different SPN characters.
