Okay, so a while back, Rebecca was helping me look for jobs online. She submitted my resume to a few different places on CareerBuilder while I was sitting on the other side of the room. I didn't notice that she sent my information to an employer in Quakertown, which is a teensy bit far for me. A little over a week ago, it was my day off, so I was sleeping in. My mom woke me up and handed me the phone. It was someone from the job in Quakertown and they were calling to interview me right then and there. I figured I bombed it, because I was barely awake and totally not expecting to have to answer any questions. But today they called back to set up a formal, in-person interview with me for next week. I am one of the top contenders for a full-time customer service position.
I will have to find out what they are offering and see if the pay makes the commute worth my while.
I'm not looking for jobs at the GIA career fair after all, because none of the people hiring are local. Instead, I intend to take advantage of the career coaching and informational sessions they're offering there. I won't be qualified for much more than a jewelry sales job until I finish the course I'm working on now, anyway. And I'll be qualified for the best positions once I get my G.G., which is still AT LEAST a year away depending on how fast I work.
Today, I got the most awesome haircut ever. Then I went shopping with Shannon and got two new shirts which I am quite pleased with. Certain people can't pick on me for "dressing like a teenager" when I wear them, hehe. I am gradually building a "professional wardrobe."
Tomorrow night, I am going to Rebecca's and we're going to see a late night showing of Hairspray! at the Imax theater in King of Prussia. On Saturday we're going to see a documentary at the GLBT Film Festival in Philly. Next week, New York!
