I am at a loss for words, and I can't find just the right thing to say. I don't know what I want to say. A girl I went to high school with died in a car accident yesterday. It's hard to watch the news and see a face you at lunch with everyday for four years and realize we will put her in her ground on monday. I can't decide if I want to cry or vomit. She was great, had a beautiful smile, wonderful personality, she was one of those girls no one could dislike. It hasn't totally hit me yet, and it hasn't clicked. Julia Vissing was 19, she graduated from Pres with me and we attended IUS together. We'll miss her.

Firefighter kills teen on his way to an emergency
A cross and flowers were placed at the scene where an Indiana teen died Friday after being hit by a Utica Township firefighter.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, volunteer firefighter Mike Hutchins was on his way to an emergency along the Ohio River when his Ford F250 pickup struck 19-year-old Julia Vissing’s car on Utica Pike in Jeffersonville.
From what we have been told, she has witnesses that said that the lights and sirens were on,” said Lt. John Hawkins, of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.
Vissing was transported to University Hospital where she later died of massive internal injuries.
According to the sheriff’s department, they plan to reconstruct the accident to determine if Hutchins was going at excessive speed. Authorities believe he had his lights and sirens on, even though some witnesses disagree.
Even if you’re on an emergency run, you still are suppose to adhere to the speed limit. You’re suppose to take into account the traffic around you,” Hawkins said.
Vissing was employed at the Horner Novelty Shop in Jeffersonville.
“She was so sweet to everyone here (Horner Novelty.) Sweet to customers, everybody loved her,” said Chuck Mattingly, owner of the novelty store.
According to her co-workers, she was outgoing.
“She was a very good person, very sweet and would do anything for anybody,” said co-worker Stephanie Schmitz.
Vissing was from a well-known family in Jeffersonville - her grandfather owns the Vissing Dodge dealership.
“I was devastated. This is a very close family and these were loving parents. The brothers’ and sisters’ relationships were wonderful,” said Jack Vissing, her cousin.
As far as Mike Hutchins, officials said he had a clean driving record. The fire department released a statement to the family and said they were sorry for their lose, especially during an emergency run.
An investigation is still underway.
We will miss you Julia, you and your family are in our prayers. We will keep a special place for you in our hearts. God has plans for you, watch over us and guide us well. I'll meet you in heaven.
