[Have a loud zap and a surprised, irritated cry.]

It shocked me! [Lucy makes a frustrated noise and there's a small silence, as though she's checking for an injury. And then she speaks again, sounding slightly flustered.]-- Oh, pardon. If anyone hears this, would you happen to know where I could acquire a bit of tea? Decent tea, mind ( Read more... )

You mean tea, don't you? [She will pretend her day was not just considerably dampened--there have been worse days, but still.]

Decent tea, at least.

Provided I'm able to drink it without getting sick. I think I'll be fine.

[There's a brief, brief pause.] The pleasure is mine. Lucy Saxon.

[Now comes the sound of hurried footsteps and several closed doors. When she speaks again, she sounds slightly hushed.]

I've heard rumors about that elusive chip. Are you a doctor who oversees such things?

My my... Well I certainly am. But this is a rather forward point to be making, is it not?

I'm sure it would have been... 'big news,' as they say, if anyone had. Is the process dangerous in any way?

Not quite.

But yes, the process is considerably dangerous. Particularly if you have any... peculiar abilities.

Really, I would have thought that some of the residents would prefer to have those horrible things removed at the first opportunity.

I understand the surgical environment must be atrocious, but beyond that, what exactly does it do, if you don't mind me asking?

It seems to generate a psuedo hormonal signal that adjusts the brain into what is considered a normal sentient/sapient pattern. Therefore abilities that are considered beyond that, regardless of what they are, are nullified due to the brain's inability to generate the possibility of them. Imagine it's like tricking the brain into thinking your hand simply isn't there. It's quite fascinating.
