I only created a user on here to comment on Giryan's entries, but something in me had an urge to start blogging myself. I can't promise that I'll keep this up-to-date, and I doubt I will, but I used to keep a personal diary many moons ago (though thankfully I haven't read it for ages, either), so who knows?

Work was uneventful today. I love it back at Sperry (my spiritual home), but sometimes wonder if they're so stuck on process that they forget to write code, which is really what I want to do. Still, at least I get to dabble in ASP.NET and a bit of Access (which is über-bobbins when one's used to a proper SQL system) to satiate the 'hack' mentality that I've embraced over the past few years.

Got home feeling fairly frustrated. I've taken to the habit of emitting strange grunts and making involuntary ticks when I'm alone recently. I'm not sure if this is just an affected habit after watching GBH or if I really am doing these things involuntarily. But, whatever, I got home and had a nice Chinese from the good people at the Magic Wok (glad that it's still there after my two-year hiatus from Surbiton) while watching the sublime Green Wing and the Empire of Dreams documentary from the Star Wars DVDs.

Say what you like about Star Wars, but that documentary was fascinating. I find a lot of DVD extras really interesting, and often wish I went to film school instead of getting into programming, but I guess one can't have everything. I would love a sound designer job in films, but clearly wouldn't have any clue on where to start.

Oh. Unpacking of the house is still tediously slow, but I managed to rip open my tape collection yesterday evening to have something to play in the car while I wait to reload my CD changer, and pulled out an old compilation I did for a trip up to Alton Towers back in my Brunel days (complete with customised packaging). It amazes me that I had both the time and inclination to make compilations in the past, but whenever I whack one on the stereo I'm really glad I did. Rather wonderful to hear Alphabet Street again, particularly as it was after The Soup Dragon's Divine Thing - I thought to myself 'I bet I put Alphabet Street on after this.' Could be I just remembered that I did, or it could be that I would have done the same today?

And that's about it for today!
