Ok, I have hit a major snag. I have connectors on the inside of my tower to the front panel, that are SUPPOSED to look like one thing, and instead I have this really WEIRD configuration. Help?
WTF?
Plugs plugs everywhere. The top plug is a large square plug with 8 male metal prongs inside. The next picture is a closeup of the wires for it. Below it are, yes... two standard audio jacks - one says "mic" the other says "aux"... nearest I can figure, they're supposed to plug into the motherboard or sound card? Just below that, in red and black, are the speaker wires. I know this because... they're attached to the speaker. And finally, another puzzler... two rows of fine pronged female adapter... is it a dual USB plug?
The real puzzler
So, looking at the colors, and discovering that the tower is a "codegen" and looking at their wiring diagrams, I think these are my LED lights, my power button, and who knows what else. But what in hell do I connect it to when the place I have to plug it into is... um... male... and MUCH smaller, and spread out.
Um...
Is this a USB connector? The wires look the same, yet it's doubled. I was almost wondering if it was for the electric displays and things on the front of the tower, but the wires don't match up with where the prongs are on the motherboard.
ETA: I think I have it figured out... the plug is proprietary for the motherboard that was previously in the tower. I'm either going to have to find connectors and do some splicing/sodering, or I'm going to have to find another tower. Blech.
