wednesday's are my thoughtful days...and i can't sleep...some things i've grown to see importance in this summer and in the past couple of weeks:
1. the most powerful thing in the world is being able to forgive yourself...being able to forgive yourself when you're not perfect, when you're not on top, and when you're just yourself...
2. true happiness is a matter of how you define yourself...you're either happy with yourself or you're not...happiness cannot be secured through material things or through other people...your vision of yourself will determine every emotion, feeling, and relationship in your life...learn to be happy!
3. people are not perfect and nor should we expect them to be...therefore, don't expect the next person you meet in your life to be your fairy tale...they may seem perfect at first, but it's what's left when the initial perfection fades away that should make you love them...so...
4. FORGIVE OTHERS!...especially the ones you love and care for...people do things that we don't always understand...if you truly care for them--don't run away or shut them out of your life...b/c it's when we are not perfect that we really need the love of those in our lives...
5. understand that people go through hard times in their life, and to hold them accountable to every act that you would have handled differently only makes their grief and guilt harder to bear...
6. understand that words have meaning and that words have lasting effects...believe it or not, someone may actually believe that you speak in terms of forever when you constantly tell that someone how wonderful, loving, and perfect they are...WHEN YOU MAKE PROMISES TO SOMEONE, LEARN TO KEEP THEM!...otherwise, keep your mouth shut...if you say you're there for someone when they need you, make it unconditional and BE THERE...when you tell someone you love and care for them, SHOW IT, and when you tell someone for months that you still want to see them, DO IT!...EVEN LITTLE THINGS CARRY HEAVY WEIGHT...
7. everyone has their own feelings and emotions and everyone has a right to those feelings...never tell anyone how they should feel and how deep and how long they should feel that way, especially when you're the center of those feelings...you have no right to criticize someone for how they feel about something or someone and how long and how deeply they feel that way...so until you reach a point where you experience no feeling or emotions, SHUT UP!
