Music Baton?!? I dunno...

Okay, so
snarkymcsnarker doesn't seem to fully believe that I do frequent LJ as much as I say I do; that or I am stalking her because I never post. Therefore, she whapped me and left a lump on my head. Thus, I respond.

Total volume of music
7.70 GB (that's 5.2 days or so) on my computer's iTunes, and an extra 5 GB or so on my external hard drive, so about 12.4. Also got a 30 GB iPod, but it's got the same stuff as my iTunes.

Last CD I bought
I honestly can't remember... I'm a pirate... I can tell you the last cd I received was Adam Ant - Antics In The Forbidden Zone, and that the next cd I will buy will be Kane's debut cd.

Songs playing right now
Kane - Crazy In Love (because I'm a pirate, remember)

Five all-time favorite songs
There's no way for me to pick five all-time songs, my choices depend on my mood. Yes, I really do go through music THAT much. I'd be kidding myself if I thought I could actually pick five songs for that purpose. Besides, they'd probably almost all end up being country/southern rock songs anyway.

Five songs that mean a lot to me (besides the five all-time favorite ones)
At this particular time in my life? You mean what I've had on repeat on my iPod for god knows how long? Or the songs that remind me of my life/childhood? Perhaps a mix of all three...

Kane - The Chase. "Once again I'm riding shotgun/ to everything that's on my mind" Well, pretty much ANYTHING by Kane right now is what I'm all about because they're just awesome, but I dunno, this song just struck a chord with me.

The Verve Pipe - I Want All Of You. " And when i see you smile/ You can make the darkest day worthwhile/ And when you look my way/ I need you to believe me when i say/ I want all of you" I hope to feel like this about another person sometime in my life and this song just lays it all out there.

Beth Orton - Sweetest Decline. "She weaves secrets in her hair/ The whispers are not hers to share./ She's deep as a well./ She's deep as a well." She's another one of those singers who I find it hard to pick just one song from because so many of them are so beautiful and fitting, but I really like the lyrics to this one. Plus I found out about Beth Orton from my all-time favorite TV show, Roswell, so the music reminds me of that.

Jo Dee Messina - Heads Carolina, Tails California. " We're gonna get outta here if we gotta ride a Greyhound bus./ Boy, we're bound to outrun the bad luck that's tailin' us" For one, I'm from the South, born and raised on country music, so that's a given. Two, I would so be up for picking up and just going anywhere, for the sake of travelling and this would so be me. I guess it embodies my sense of travel.

Alan Jackson - Chattahoochee. " Yeah way down yonder on the Chattahoochee/ Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me/ But i learned how to swim and i learned who i was/ A lot about livin' and a litttle 'bout love" Another country song that just takes me back to my childhood. I remember singing along to this song at any opportunity, loudly with my friends and cousins. I didn't actually learn how to swim IN the Chattahoochee, but I did in the lake that's in its path, and I've been in the river countless times. But this song just epitomizes so many of the hot Georgia summers of my childhood.

Alrighty then, so I actually put quite a bit of consideration into my song choices, simply because I never think about that stuff in detail, I just go with what I like at the moment. I sifted through all 800+ songs on my iPod (because it was handy) to choose them. Which just means, if you asked me tomorrow, my choices would probably come up differently. Had I been sifting through the songs from my computer, or heaven forbid trying to go through my cd collection, it'd probably take me all day to come up with the songs. Anyway, yeah, so now that I'm all nostalgic and whatnot... I have nobody to whap back with the music baton, so anybody feel free to have a go.

There you go, Emily, now you have proof! I semi-updated!
