Back on Track

I just had a great day with my cousin who happens to also be named Holly and ALSO happens to be a librarian. I (and my aunt) went to her place of work at PLU and met her co-workers, toured the campus, and got to know what she does on a daily basis. She is such a sweet, helpful person. She totally went out of her way to give me information on the tuition/work study program there and what I need to do to get a job and what I could do to help my chances of getting hired.

Being there invigorated my waning (but existant) draw to the library and I realized my interest in continuing on in the system all over again. I really like the idea of working at an acedemic library (versus a public library) and I may go that direction after I have a few years of Public Library Assistant experience to back me up. And I can even work at PLU, get a great discount on my tuition (because I would be working there) and get my bachelors degree in something (maybe music), all the while getting more experience working in the library. Then when I finished my Bachelor's degree I could go on to UW to get my masters in Library Science. I know I could do it, I just don't know if I'm ready for MORE school. I may take it slow once I start, maybe just 5 or 10 credits per quarter. But yeah... I think I like my new life plan. I hope it works out. My next step is to apply for that LA Pool at KCLS and become a Library Assistant. Or maybe even a Library Technician Assistant, if they have the openings. Wish me luck. ;)
