Two-Tone Raglan
The shoulder detail pic is more true to color, but here is the whole garment.
YARN: 10 skeins Elsebeth Lavold Cotton Patiné (6 Lilac, 4 Damson)
PATTERN: Adaptation of 'Esmeralda' from The Sentimental Journey Collection by Elsebeth Lavold
I followed the pattern exactly, but omitted all of the lace. I thought it was too fussy, but I liked the overall shape and porportion of the pattern. This taught me a lot about the contruction of a raglan. I will never knit a sweater of this type flat ever again. Seams are a bitch and things just go faster in the round. I also don't like purling as much.
NOTES: I have only one tiny remorse for this piece. I would have done more than 6 rows of ribbing along the hem, as it tends to roll. That's all. I LOVE this piece. It contends for my favorite piece. The reddish dye rubs off on the lilac yarn under the arms a little bit, but I'll live. I've only worn it a few times, always over a little t-shirt, so it has not been washed yet. We'll see how that goes. I half expect that the whole lilac part will be stained a little darker from the sleeves, but I can live with that, since they are such complimentary colors.
