Felting Party

Last night was fantabulous. I just have the greatest family ever. We all got together to celebrate Amanda's and Dave's birthdays. I gave her the blue/green Clapotis I made with the WotA I hand-dyed. She loved it. I'm also going to make her a newsboy hat out of the leftover skein from that dyelot ( Read more... )

Hi! I have not yet knit Josephine, as I got busy with other projects and now it's too warm for me to think about... but I can still give you some suggestions, as I did a LOT of research and planning for this project, even though I haven't gotten to it yet.

I was able to hit gauge with Knitpicks' Sierra -
http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/itemid_5420129/yarn_display.aspx

I ordered some to make a hat for someone for xmas and it was very nice. I also dyed some of my left-overs and it absorbs dye very well, and comes in a hank, too. That's how I was going to overcome their limited color selection. But I digress...

Overall, I can't recommend Lamb's Pride. The mohair content makes it itchy, and it's a barely spun single. Unplied yarn gets very fuzzy and matted over time and your cablework would start to blur. The Sierra has a nice twisted 2-ply that will make cables pop, and holds it's shine after washing. The only advantage is their wide range of colors.

I hope this info helps you out, and feel free to check out my blog any time for knitting info.

Hi, I saw your question about Josephine to SavyKnitter. I am wondering if you made it and if you had success. I love it too but don't know what yarn to use. If you have any suggestions, please e-mail me mjfeldberg@yahoo.com
with knitting as the subject so I don't trash it.
THANKS!
Melissa
