Since some Season 2 spoilers for V came out yesterday on account of a media visit to the set, I felt compelled to write about what I thought about them.
Charles Mesure reveals that the V's are blackmailing Hobbs by threatening to hurt an ex-lover named Sarah
- from
Natalie Abrams Glad to see them bring in a love interest for Hobbes. One of my biggest UGH things about V was the possibility that they might go through with a Jack/Erica/Hobbes love triangle and while they still might, introducing an ex-lover of Hobbes, who is still alive means that the triangle is lessened and decreases the chance that it will happen.
The Fifth Column is expanding. Erica and Hobbs will be heading to Tokyo to meet another sect.
- from
Natalie Abrams Knowing that Hobbes may have a love interest outside of Erica makes the news of an overseas trip with the two of them easier to take for me. I don't have to worry all that much (at least, I would assume) that it would turn into something romantic, but rather, just keep it as being a mission.
I'd love to see things develop character-wise, where maybe Erica encourages Kyle to go find and reconnect with Sarah, while he, in turn, encourages her with Jack. I like Erica and Hobbes as friends and in a way, teammates...so, I think that would be a cool and fun way to grow those characters' relationship. I don't mind Erica and Kyle bonding as long as it's buddy-buddy. Brownie Points for more snarky comments from Hobbes and Erica rolling her eyes at him.
I like (it was actually
one of the things I wanted to see) that they are expanding the V story universe and have been very glad to hear things are going more global and The Resistance is going to be gaining new members.
I do have to wonder, though...why don't Jack and/or Ryan go with them? Makes me wonder what Jack and Ryan are up to. Are they on their own mission somewhere else?
Jane Badler is great! She says Diana is not the same character from the orig series, and she's not actualy a villain.
- from
Natalie Abrams
When we first heard about Jane coming in for Season 2, I had assumed that "Diana" was going to be the same from the original miniseries/series, so this intrigues me. How does THIS Diana view Humanity? Does she side with Anna or Lisa? Did Diana treat Anna the way Anna treats Lisa?
I'm very interested to see the dynamics of the three generations of Visitor Queens.
Elizabeth Mitchell says Erica will get the crap beat out if her in an upcoming episode
- from
Natalie Abrams
THIS. I have wanted to see something like this for a while, mainly, because I think it's a way to make Erica and Jack closer. Jack is skilled in treating people in war, so either he helps take care of her (Brownie Points if there is a bedside scene with the two of them) or they go to Dr. Pearlman or Joshua to get her healed by the Visitors.
It's always easy for me to consider my heroes unbeatable and invincible, but Erica Evans isn't Supergirl. Bullets aren't going to bounce off her. When someone hits her, it's going to hurt. If she gets cut, she's going to bleed. And, in a way, I'm glad they're going to show that she CAN be injured. That she CAN be vulnerable. Shows her Humanity.
This also makes me think of how in the original miniseries, Julie (the blonde female leader of the Resistance) gets injured (shot in the leg, if I remember correctly?).
In looking through some of the most recent spoiler pictures from the set, it DOES look like Erica has some wounds on her
knuckles, cheek,
forehead, and chest. I wonder if the writers have Erica refuse Visitor healing technology out of principle? That could be interesting.
Wonder who beats the crap out of Erica? Is it another partner betrayal? Random Visitor attack? Anna?
Elizabeth Mitchell on new partner Jay Karnes: Erica and her partners...they should just put on a red shirt
- from
Natalie Abrams
Well, EM just told us that the character played by Jay Karnes is going to die...
We know that Erica's first partner, Dale, died (at the hands of Joshua), so this could be a growing pattern.
But, what about Malik? Does she die, too? Is that why Erica gets a new partner? Because Malik becomes partnered up with Erica at the end of "Hearts and Minds" in Season 1.
Logan Huffman: Erica makes more big mistakes this season that pushes Tyler away further
- from
Natalie Abrams
When I first read this, I was like, "Oh, GREAT" because I hate that Tyler's piece-of-crap-ness is Erica's fault. Granted, she is his mother and because she's withholding information from him is driving him away, so in some ways, it IS her fault. But, there is a line of responsibility that Tyler needs to step up to. He's a big boy. He shouldn't be so blind in his devotion to the Vs and should trust his mom that she has his best interests at heart.
HOWEVER, I think this is fitting to the character of Erica Evans. She's a kickbutt FBI agent and is awesome at what she does for a living. She's a heroine who cares about people so much that she lives and works every day to protect everyone else. She's selfless. She's smart.
She needs a flaw. Otherwise, she'd be boring and nobody would care about her.
So, Erica's flaw is that she struggles in how to deal with Tyler. That's a very real thing, too, I think with being a single mom.
I wonder what the big mistakes are. Do they relate to Tyler's mystery paternity? Does it relate to how she deals with Anna? Does Tyler find something out about his mom that he doesn't like? Does Anna manipulate Tyler to midjudge his mother's motives?
Hobbes will be wearing variations on the black shirt this year.

The all-important question has been answered.
Love Hobbes' black shirt because I love that it's sort of his uniform and am glad they're keeping that up in Season 2.
EM just joked that maybe Anna will be her love affair for Season 2.

Morena has joked about this as well :)
While I don't see it actually happening for real, I think Anna could use her sexuality just like Diana, in the original miniseries/series. Diana would sleep with a male Visitor or make sexually suggestive remarks to a female Visitor (Lydia comes to mind). Whatever could get her what she wanted.
I could actually seeing Anna trying something with Erica and Erica seeing right through it.
