.hack//of THE WORLD >>> an AU / OC roleplaying game
Yep. I got everything situated and written up and stuff. For those of you who were interested in the game? Take look beyond the cut. I'm still looking for a co-mod or two *MAKESPUPPYEYES* and I need to get up the actual-layout for the community. I'm still working things out, but, for the most part, things are pretty set up and applications can be sent in at any time.
the story
It's the year 2020. For 13 years the MMORPG The World has been out and gained popularity over time. As of 2020 there is a countless number of people playing the large game, as well as a expansion including new weapons, items, armor, and two classes. Rumours have appeared that if sales continue to do well then CC Corp. will release another expansion pack in years to come -- and many players of the game look forward to and speculate what sort of new classes and items and weapons could be included within a rumoured expansion. Perhaps even new areas as well, and monsters too.
But with it being just pure speculation and all player-theories and hopes the players continue on with their day to day lives -- in game and out of it.
Lately, however, odd things have been happening within The World. Glitches in certain areas being reported by players, thus causing an area to be shut down for maintance or repair; monsters that are double the level appearing in an area that they had never inhabited before, thus scaring newbie players off to a more low-level area before even thinking of going to the area again. Items not working properly. Weapons lowering in stats and value. Most of these problems are odd and small, but the big one is dealing with the glitches in the special areas and dungeons that the players visit.
The debugging squad and certain administrators check everything out, making sure things are in working in order, before allowing entry to the area once again. But, if a complaint is sent in again then that area is shut down for good until any and all repairs can be fixed. Or until further investigation into the reoccuring glitches can be figured out.
As more players show up a higher fluctuation of PKers also appear, cutting their way through newbies and even experienced players. Administration is doing the best they can to reassure everyone that things will be under control and they are doing their best, working day and night to make sure The World is a fun place for all of their players.
And the question that remains hung in the air seems to be: "What's happening in The World, in all the waves of data and folds of memory, to be causing this to happen?"

character class: what in-game class are they? (a list of classes + descriptions can be found right here)
character history: You know, what happened in their past and how they got to playing 'THE WORLD'
character personality: How do they behave and act? Please include 'out of game' and 'in game' personality within here. Sometimes players decide to play their character within THE WORLD differently from how they really act.
character appearance: what does your character look like outside of game and inside of it? Not every character within THE WORLD will look the same. (Also, please note that we will be using anime/manga characters for the characters. No .hack// character will be allowed to be used as PBs)
third-person writing sample: a paragraph of your character doing something. It can be them in game or out of the game. Whichever you so choose.
e-mail the application to oftheworld.mods[@]gmail.com with the subject of THE WORLD in the subject bar, as so we know you're applying for a character. Once the application is recieved it may take a day or two to get back to you, so keep patient and you'll see if you have been accepted or not.
Once you have been accepted you can go to the task of creating your character journal and joining the comms (oftheworld, oftheworldlogs, oftheworldooc)
I'll probably make another comm for e-mails, where characters can send 'e-mails' to one another to keep in touch and the like.
Characters will be able to be played in-game (like they're in the game) and out of the game (reality, where they go to work and go to school) because, well, that'll spice things up and make it a lot more fun to play and log and the such~
Now, with regards to the main comm I'm trying to figure out how to use that. I was thinking of making it like a message board-ish thing. Where they just talk about random shit, see if people want to party up with them, ask if people have certain items / are looking to trade. Stuff like that. I'll think that one over, since that seems like the best of ideas at the moment. That's about it...yep. If you're still interested, go ahead and fill out the application and send it to the e-mail provided. Character limit is 4 per person.
