**A Boat Trip to Kate**
Pairings: Abby/Gibbs, Gibbs/Kate

Spoilers for Twilight/Season 2 Finale
Summary: A twisted dream of Abby's--does she dream of the future--or is she crazy? You decide. A little out-of-character...but still. Comments appreciated.
"Gibbs sir, where are we going?"says Abby as she struggles to keep her dinner down through Gibbs's wild driving.
"You'll see when we get there Abbs,"says Gibbs as he swerves to avoid a tree fallen over in the dirt road.
Abby anxiously grabs her seat and stares ahead. The car comes to a sudden stop.
Gibbs points to a boat ties to a small dock,"There."
Abby quietly gets out and stands still as she reads the little boats name--'Kate.'
"I built her after the week of Kate's funeral--I had always planned to name her Kate--but I rushed to get her done,"says Gibbs as he places his hand on the boat and feels the woodwork.
Abby starts to flash tears--but quickly laughs,"I knew there was something between you two. The way she always talked about you and made sketch after sketch of you...but it was never quite right to her, she said."
Gibbs smiled,"Yeah--shall we?"
Abby and Gibbs climb into the boat and Gibbs starts to row.
"Nice moon, huh, my silver-haired fox,"says Abby.
"Why do you call me that,"says Gibbs with a smile.
Abby snickered,"For me to know and you to never find out."
"Before we get there--I need to warn you Abby. This house is secret--and you are to never tell anyone. Or come here without my permission. Do you understand?"says Gibbs with a serious face.
Abby just nodded.
"I'm sorry for the pain you're gonna feel,"says Gibbs looking away--he couldn't stand Abby in pain.
"Are ya gonna kill me Gibbs,"says Abby with a laugh.
The boat pulled ashore to a broken down cabin.
Are ya?"says Abby, this time more concerned.
"No--Gibbs is not going to kill you Abby,"says Kate as she slips out of the shadows.
Abby just fainted.
"You awake Abbs?"says Gibbs as he washes her forehead with a cold rag.
"Yeah--what happened,"says Abby as she stood quickly--feeling dizzy.
"You fainted,"says Gibbs as he hands her the rag.
"We were on a boat...I saw this house...I asked if you were going to kill me...then...Kate,"says Abby as she sits on the couch. She began to look around the room.
The inside of the house had obviously been refurnished. It was light blue...a woman had to have done this. Certainly Gibbs didn't have those skills. There were some stairs leading to a second story. Nice place.
"Abby--Abby,"says Gibbs snapping in front of Abby's face.
"Sorry--I like the place,"says Abby.
"Thank you,"says Kate as she comes out of the kitchen carrying two glasses of tea and the infamous mug of coffee for Gibbs.
"Kate--it was really you,"says Abby as she stands still and backing away.
Kate sets the tray down and embraces Abby. Abby recognizes Kate's perfume and hugs her.
"I have a lot of explaining to do,"says Gibbs as he sips his coffee.
"We sure do Jethro,"says Kate as she leads Abby back to the couch.
~~Long Story Short~~
Gibbs and Kate explained to Abby that her death was a setup and she was to remain in hiding for another year. Kate wanted to stay with Gibbs--so this place worked out. This was to pin Ari into a trap. Not many people know about this operation--but enough people for Abby to feel left out.

"Wow,"says Abby,"Why now?"
"Well,"says Gibbs, looking at Kate's stomach with a signifigant stare.
Kate just smiled.
"Your expecting?!"says Abby with wide eyes.
Kate nods,"I'm three months."
"We need to use your name for the hospital stuff Abby--and I know about the permanent damage this could cause--but we--,"says Gibbs before Abby interrupted.
"I'd be happy if you used my name--especially for Kate,"says Abby with her normal twinkle in her eyes.
"Thank you my pig-tailed Abby,"says Kate as she hugs Abby.
"Is it your Gibbs?"says Abby.
"Who elses would it be?"says Kate as he squeezes Gibbs's hand.
Gibbs kisses Abby on her cheek. Abby is smiling.
Buzz, buzz, buzz!
"Abby--Abby...,"says Gibbs as he shakes the half-awake Abby.
"Huh--yes bossman?"says Abby as she stares into his eyes.
"Do you always smile in your sleep,"says Gibbs,"Time to go home--it's 3 a.m."
Abby nods and stretches. She hates these dreams that taunt her all the time. But as she catches a glimpse of Gibbs looking mighty eager to go home--the kind of look he got when Kate did well--she wondered if this dream might be true.
"Gibbs,"screams Abby as she runs to the elevator. Gibbs holds the elevator for her. Abby hits the emergency stop switch.
"Where are you going,"says Abby,"Kate?"
Gibbs looks confused, but then admits,"Yeah--how did you know?"
Abby shrugs.
Gibbs says,"Shhh..."
"Don't do this to me,"screams Abby as she hurries out of the elevator to the street.
"Abby,"screams Tony as he appeared where Gibbs was standing.
"Abby--move,"says Kate as she lunges towards Abby.
Abby winces--where did Gibbs go--everything is blurry.
"Abby--you've been hit by a car,"says Gibbs as he holds her hands.
"When,"struggles Abby.
"When you ran from me in the elevator when I was talking to you. Kate tried to run and get you,"says Tony.
"I'm sorry, I should've ran faster,"says Kate.
"These damn dreams...,"mutters Abby before she falls back asleep.
"Poor Abby,"says Kate as she walks to Gibbs and secretly touches his hand.
"When are we going to tell her about her about her memory loss? Kate's return, Ziva and me, McGee and her,"says Tony with saddened eyes.
"Sorry I'm late,"says Ziva,"I brought McGee--but he's in the car--he's scared to see her like this."
Tony kissed Ziva's cheek,"Shalom--I've been practicing that-- I'll get him."
Ducky walks in holding baby Sophia. "Sorry Jethro, I tried to hurry."
"No problem Duck,"says Gibbs as he takes his daughter from Ducky.
"Did you feed her?"asks Kate as she plunges into the baby bag.
"Yes dear,"says Ducky as he kisses Kate on the cheek.
"Hello NCIS--I'm Dr. Daniels. I'm Abby's physician. She had suffered a major blow to her head. She is suffering major memory loss. It also seems she is remembering some, but in a mixed way,"says Dr. Daniels.
"How much does she remember?"says Gibbs.
"Well, she remembers Kate being dead. Gibbs has already returned from retirement? She also told me about Gibbs bringing her to see Kate at a cabin of some sort,"says Dr. Daniels.
"Ouch--I'm still dead to her?"says Kate.
"Not exactly--she hasn't remembered past that though--you are 3-months pregnant to her,"says Dr. Daniels.
"Oh dear, that means she has 2 years to remember,"says Ducky.
"At least it's not 15 years,"smirks Gibbs. Kate elbows him and gives him a glare.
"She doesn't remeber marrying McGee either?"asks Kate.
"Afraid not Mrs. Gibbs,"says Dr. Daniels.
"She likes being called Kate Doctor,"says Ziva as she takes baby Sophia from Kate.
"Come on Probie,"says Tony standing in the doorway.
"No Tony,"says McGee standing by the window.
Abby stirs,"McGee?"
"Hey Abby,"says McGee as he pokes his head through the door.
Abby smiles,"We got married. In my dream--I saw it."
Everyone smiles at this news--only 5 months left to remember.
McGee proceeds to hold Abby's hand.
"I remember Kate now,"says Abby,"And my little niece, Sophie Abigail Gibbs."
The room begins to spin and it's getting too cold.
"Abby--Abby--we are about to head out to the rooftop to kill that bastard Ari,"says Tony as he places his hand on Abby's shoulder.
"Yeah, don't forget about our spa reservations--try to renew them while we're gone,"says Kate.
"Sure,,,"mutters Abby as the two agents leave her lab.
