That was possibly the longest night Eliot experienced on the island as well, and given he had been here for 24 damned long days... Either way, Sophie and Hardison were finally settled, and blizzard or not, the meager food stores he kept reserved in both their rooms were quickly exhausted between three people.

Which meant someone needed to pick up new items, namely being him. It was snowing harder than ever and it made trudging a few miles to the storage area a long difficult trek. An hour later, bundled up with everything he got, and makeshift snowshoes on his feet, Eliot came tumbling into the kitchen with the intention of gathering things to cook something warm.

The power was still out, but he came in by way of the greenhouse which he stockpiled on fuel for their fireplace in the dorm and the frozen stores of food he kept there. Maybe if there was a gas stove in here, he could set something up....

He was surprised to find he wasn't alone in the room.

"How'd you get here?"

It was hard not to notice somebody tromping into the empty kitchen on snowshoes and laden with wood, so Riddick was standing straight and watching warily by the time Elliot actually made it in, his big hand hiding the knife. Just in case. The first question the guy made was positively inane, so he answered the only way one could without being too insulting:

"I walked."

"Through this snow?" Well, of course, but he had to sound incredulous anyway because he just trudged through it and it was positively insane to do so. He wouldn't either if he didn't have to.

The second thing he noted was the way the cupboard door looked awry, the same one where he hid the good knives because of exactly what this stranger seemed to be doing, taking them as weapons. Experienced as Eliot was with weapons himself, it didn't slip his notice that the man was hiding something.

"Put that back down. I'll be real angry if that goes missin' when I need it while cookin'." He placed his bundle of wood on the counter so he could more comfortably, and defensibly, observe the other man.

Nice guess, that he was armed, but not quite right. Riddick didn't bother denying anything, but he did flip the knife over in his hand so it was at least visible, and so obviously not one of Elliot's. Those were kitchen knives: his were made to cut people, not food, and was thick and curved instead of nicely flat for working on a table.

"I'd be surprised if y'needed my knife for your cookin'," he commented blandly. "And yeah, I walked. Kinda gotta do that if you wanna get anyplace around here, snow or no snow. Guessin' that's how you got here, too."

In snowshoes. Riddick wondered where he could get himself some of those. If it was going to keep storming like this, he might need them.
