CHARACTERS: estraine and OPEN! DATE: ( nov. 8th (day 18) ) RATING: PG-13 for violence and scary shit. SUMMARY: HOUSE OF LEAVES dun dun dun. follow up of possession/haunted house (?) plot.
This reminds me that I need to finish House Of Leaves...magerightsNovember 10 2011, 13:24:51 UTC
[He's not really surprised when the door closes behind him and refuses to open again. Really, in his experiences it would have been stranger to find nothing unusual about the building at all.]
I must be more out of my mind than I thought, coming here on my own. That's something Hawke would consider doing more than me...
[Which brings back a faint pang of loneliness, but he ignores it, shoving it back down again in favour of slowly venturing further out into the first floor of the strange new building.]
...hopefully there's something useful in all of this.
oh my god you should estraineNovember 10 2011, 22:41:24 UTC
[ there's no reply! of course not, what did you expect, anyway? the house is empty, after all.
except.
except, as you walk deeper into the first floor, there is a faint noise, a footstep seconds behind your own, but when you turn, there's not a soul in sight, and no set of feet in the dust but your own.
in front of anders is the kitchen (or the remains of one, anyway), with a sole table to its name, and a cracked mirror lying on the table.
I knooow it's been so good so far. It's just very heavy in style :(magerightsNovember 10 2011, 23:39:50 UTC
[The noise has him spinning sharply, staff at the ready, and it doesn't help much at all to see nothing there.]
...Maker, it's like Varric's place last we saw it. Except I suppose there's less corpses.
[Always look on the bright side? He scans the area behind him again before cautiously advancing towards what turns out to be a kitchen. While the mirror is certainly curious, Anders ignores it in favour of checking the rest of the room first for anything dangerous or useful. When that doesn't turn up much of note, he takes a look at the mirror lying there, reminded a little too much of Merrill as he does so.]
i agree!! it's a slow read! also sob sorry for taking so longestraineNovember 12 2011, 07:04:57 UTC
[ the reflection is distorted, a grotesque reflection of anders' own face, the skin rotted away and peeling, the very picture of decomposition, complete with writhing maggots and all. charming, no?
if anders cares to feel his face, it'll feel disturbing soft and wet and-- well, have you ever touched a maggot before?
[Eliot knew most of the places on the island by now, especially the areas around the greenhouse, and that house was not there the day before. Which meant it required investigating. So in he went, wary and ready for an attack from any direction.
The slamming shut of the door drew a quick glance from him and prompted him to trying the knob. Locked, obviously. Grabbing his knife and flipping it over into a more comfortable hold, he moved in deeper into the first floor.]
I'M SORRY FOR THE SUPER LATE REPLY ljsdgestraineNovember 14 2011, 06:37:17 UTC
[ no answer, until--
a tug at the hem of eliot's shirt, and there is a little boy hanging on the other end, maybe five or six, blonde, cute in the way children often are. he appears quite out of the blue, with nothing to herald his arrival. ]
Nah, it's all good!distinctive_guyNovember 14 2011, 06:46:23 UTC
[That Eliot didn't hear the boy's approach should have been warning enough, except this was only a little boy, barely out of kindergarten. He has a weakness to children like that.
Not giving the strange appearance more than a second's thought, he crouched down to the kid's eye level.]
