Parker shoved the taser into the cloth, finger on the trigger, and then paused, eyes fixed on the shelving opposite her, and the top of it. Especially the way there were fewer monsters up there.

"Hold on," she said, shoving the makeshift torch on a shelf for safekeeping, and beginning to scramble up the shelves to what were, essentially, high platforms away from the monsters. "I'm going get that oil."

She wasn't worried about leaving Eliot; he could take care of himself better than he could if he had to keep an eye out for her safety. She jumped the two intervening aisles, dropping down warily next to the bottle of oil and stashing two in her jacket. A monster screamed, and she was back up the shelving in a flash, leaving it on the ground below her as she jumped across the aisle again. Some of the shelving fell away beneath her feet, but she ignored it, jumping again and dropping down where she'd left Eliot.

"No, Parker..." Eliot began but she was already gone. "Damnit!" Seeing there was nothing he could do at the moment, he went back to smacking the next monster in the neck and throwing it at its buddy beside it.

The firelight cast an orange glow onto everything, extending shadows yet at the same time making it easier for Eliot to spot the crowd. The situation looked a lot worse now that he could see the great number of them crowding towards them.

Two more came at him at their friend's vacant spot, the first which Eliot smacked with the side of his pole followed by a punch in the solar plexus to send it down. However, the second one was lashing out with its tentacle face and Eliot couldn't duck in time. He brought his arm up to block... and hissed in surprise. Pain shot through his nerves from where the caustic mucous burned its way through his skin. He reacted quickly though, yanking his arm free and kicking the thing away before it could do more damage.

Parker dropped down behind him just as Eliot moved back from the horde. In the firelight, he could see the skin of his arm blistering and burned like a very bad jellyfish sting. Eliot grimaced and flexed his arm. "Watch out for those tentacles. The slime on'em burns."

"Ow. Okay, no touching." Parker swung her torch at a monster, blinking as it recoiled without her touching it.

"New plan. They're scared of fire."

New, new plan. Get Nate to make the plans. Even better plan; get the hell to a safe place.

Parker ducked under a monster's charge, punching up bodily as it tripped over her and heaving it off to one side where it lay twitching limply. She'd probably only stunned it. A beat to realise how many monsters were crowding towards them, and she breathed a quiet swearword before bracing herself. She'd get Eliot's back, trust him to get hers, and fight until they won through the night.

"That's good," Eliot observed, glad to hear something that went their way this evening. "That means they're still animals." He smacked one away and kicked another that got too close. "Means they can learn to fear other things."

Eliot glanced around, then spotted the path of shelves that Parker had taken earlier to get to the oil. He didn't like it, but that looked to be the path of least resistance at the moment. "Get back on those shelves. High ground's easier to defend." And then they might be able to find a good way to exit this monster infested den. Like to that brokent red EXIT sign that kept catching his eye in the darkened distance.
