ok. so. i'm an aunt.

my mother called me at 12:30 last night to let me know.
but, of course, the Goodman curse strikes again. but again, it all worked out ok. ...phew...
rather than try to explain it, i just cut and pasted from my mother's mass e-mail to everyone, lol
"Camryn Nicole Goodman was born at 11:40 PM on April 3. She weighs 6 lbs.5 oz. and is 18 inches long. She has green eyes and brown hair and is so cute - but that's what all grandparents say, isn't it?
Kristy was scheduled to have labor induced at 9:00 on Friday, 4/4 because of many problems she's had with this pregnancy from the beginning. She checked into the hospital Thursday night and Matt left at 11:15 and she was getting ready to go to sleep - the nurse had just given her some Demorol. At 11:20, a nurse called Matt and told him to get back to the hospital immediately but didn't say why. When he got there, Kristy was being taken into the delivery room for an emergency C-section. She had a placenta abruption (google that if you need to!) and the baby was in distress. Within 20 minutes, the baby arrived and none too soon for both of them......Thank God they're OK.
Kristy is in a lot of pain, of course and the baby is in the NICU (intensive care for infants). Apparently, the baby aspirated some fluid and blood into her lungs during the delivery so they had to intubate her. Her heart rate is normal and everything else seems fine. The Drs. feel the fluid should be gone in a few days, but she'll probably stay in the NICU for at least a week. Kristy may be able to go home in 4 or 5 days."
anyway, even though we knew the baby was going to be born by today, we planned on my coming home the following weekend, because we had a feeling she'd be in the hospital this weekend anyway. so hopefully get to see her next weekend, without a tube down her throat. ugh. and hopefully kristy will feel better by then too.
i dont think i'll believe until i see her, lol. i still cant fathom my brother being a father...hah.
