You're...

[People like Einstein and Darwin may have been his childhood heroes rather than the caped crusaders of other children, but even he wasn't unaffected by the images of Captain American when he was young.]

Captain America?!

[Okay, wow. Someone that actually knew who Captain America was? He was a bit surprised, since it didn't seem many of the people here actually did know. Aaaaand he's rubbing the back of his head for a moment before responding.]

Yeah. Yeah, I am.

[What do you even say to a famous historical figure? Hi, you're a war hero I watched you on television when I was younger.

Okay Charles, stop staring at him like a crazy person.]

...wow.

I can hardly believe it.

[So awkward oh man...]

I, uh-- take you're a fan?

[What year had Charles said he was from? Sometime in the 60s, right? That would put him at a young age in the 40's, so it'd make sense.]

[He looks vaguely embarrassed now.]

As much as one could be when their usual childhood heroes were Darwin and Einstein. You were quite the exception.

[He's embarrassed? Man, he's got nothing on how embarrassed Steve is.]

Wow, I-- I'm honored. [He pauses, not even sure what to say right now.]

Glad...Glad to know I was able to give you someone to look up to, then. I can't imagine the war was easy for a young kid.

[The best way to ignore this mutual embarrassment is to pretend it doesn't exist.]

I was young enough that I merely felt inconvenienced by the whole ordeal and my parents were well off enough that there were minimum disruption to our lives.

[Except for the part where he knew all about it anyway from his forays into other people's minds.]

Ah. Then you're one of the lucky few.

[It's kind of nice to know that not everyone was harshly affected by the war. Of course, he has no idea Charles had to listen to so many thoughts on the matter.]
