Three of the Tiniest Open Source Violins in the World

Win arguments, with STYLE!

Each one of these tiny, gleaming violins measuring not more than 22 millimeters was fabricated originally in the Netherlands by a group of marvelously loopy Danes known collectively as Shapeways, according to my own specifications, utilizing a combination of 3D printing technology, metal casting, and digital telecommunications.

The specifications of these can be found on Thingiverse, and so you could fabricate one yourself, which is what makes them Open Source, but these particular instantiations are special for a number of reasons:

* They belong to the first-ever batch of them fabricated in stainless steel
* I'm down to my last few of this batch, most of which having been given away as calling cards or tokens and so on
* These were carried by me, around SIGGRAPH 2010, and have been in the presence of many industry luminaries, the mere luck of the draw the only reason said luminaries do not posses these particular specimens.
* Unlike instantiations you'd get from Shapeways, these particular ones have been carried extensively by the designer himself, mostly in front shirt or jean fifth pocket, shown around, and generally become imbued with the polyliffluous, ineffable ~umbrance~ of yours truly.
* I will include a handwritten note with each one describing the story of their invention, creation, and journey to briefly rejoin their creators as SIGGRAPH 2010.

Also, their sale is for a very very good cause and I'm handling shipping because they can be dropped in an envelope without increasing its weight much.

For auction purposes, we shall call them Violin A, Violin B and Violin C, and the bidding for each shall start at two dollars.

Auction Ends: November 7th
