Rant of the day...

Thank you 20/20 for debunking that incredibily stupid myth of "SUV's are safer than cars!" for the load of crap it is. Not only are they polluting gas-guzzlers, they are not nearly as safe as a regular 4 door sedan, such as a Civic, Camry, or Corrola. And it even addressed the people who say "screw the other people in ana accident... I'll survive" and just how wrong they are.
In case you couldn't tell, I hate SUV's. And of course, there are the people who claim to actually use it, and I'll agree that there is a place for them (in Naitonal Parks or something), but I don't think that middle-aged parents talking on cell phones driving to work alone quallifies. And I've seen it. I had to drive from Lawrenceville to Atlanta and back every single day for months on end for school. That, and I see people in my own neighborhood. Taking a kid to soccer practice doesn't take a GMC Suburban. I love how ironic that name is, too. And it's not just the middle-aged parents. It's the 16-25 year-old crowd, too. It's a status symbol for people who want to feel like they own the road, and I think it's disgusting. But then again, how can I argue with an America that is perfectly willing to use American troops to secure oil resources and power in a region dominated by oil interests. If so many people think it, they can't be wrong.
