So, Steve drove over and we met with photographer
trois last night. The woman photographer (it's a husband/wife team) told me to call her right at 7:30, when we'd scheduled the meeting, since she'd have to let us in. Their studio is downtown in this super cool old building that apparently used to manufacturer cars back in the day. Anyway, I call her, right at 7:30, as directed, as we pull up and park on the street.
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is Stephanie so-and-so."
Pause. "Uh, who's this?"
Sigh. Apparently she thought my name was Becky, which I get all the time at work when I answer the phone and say my spiel about thank you for calling this pharmacy, my name is Stephanie, how can I help you? (I don't really see how "Stephanie" = "Becky" but whatever). But seriously - who ELSE would be calling her at that precise moment in which she had directed me to call? However, they turned out to be awesome, much better quality than photographer deux and much less expensive than photographer une (I'm not even linking to those anymore since we won't go with either of them). Also, the rights to the pictures come with the packages, which is apparently a deal-breaker for me.
Their outdoor work is particularly very, very good - important, I'd think, since we're having an outdoor wedding. Although we did e-mail a fourth photographer due to some certain comments in a previous entry and therefore, we now have option
quatre that we'll have to meet with sometime in the next few weeks.
But seriously, the best moment of the night was when I found out how they started dating. They've been photographing for years and have only been married for three, so they worked together before becoming a husband/wife team. They decided that they were interested in each other after they shot their very first wedding - oh, my god. I died.
"Do you tell this story to everyone?"
"No, actually. I don't."
"OH my GOD. WHY NOT?!" Seriously. Brides are so over-emotional and shit anyway, this is seriously the type of thing to win people over. Although luckily I have my practical fiance to keep me in check. And the husband was really awesome too. He does his own work on the side, shooting at national parks and abandoned buildings and really finding beauty in wrecks.
"So, do you ever just...drive past an abandoned building and stop to shoot?"
"YEAH." Both of them, at the same time. lololol.
Also, the fire alarm went off today at work, but only on the fourth floor; therefore, only my preceptor and I were the lucky ones to hear it. And we didn't realize that it wasn't anywhere else, so we just suffered and locked ourselves into offices (I used the other preceptor's office - confusing), shut the doors, and played Pandora. Although we didn't realize that we did the same thing until later. I only have two half days left of this rotation already - holy crap. I am pretty excited for the next one since it's **diabetes camp** and while I have to stay at this camp overnight for a week, I do get a good chunk of time off later in the month. I just wish that I didn't have to drive 2+ hours to get there by 9 am on Saturday morning. But, c'est la vie.
