Since life has been so crazy for me, I completely spaced on wishing you all a happy 4th anniversary! That's right ya'll. savecolby has been in existence for 4 years. Maybe when I finally get settled, I will post a delayed Happy Anniversary picspam. I need to start that again anyway because I think we could all use a little daily shot of Colby in our ( Read more... )

Yay! I could for sure “use a little daily shot of Colby in our lives”, that’s exactly what I need now to lift my spirit.

Thanks Candi for the new challenge. I’m not good writing fanfic, but I’m good reading them :-), so I will start with a REC: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4350234/1/Probability by Donelle . It’s a nice little story situated after Trust Metric, when Colby is back with the team.

Happy 4th anniversary!

Thanks for the REC! This is great!!!

For anyone else reading: the above fic is general fic, whump (I know how some of ya'll love that. LOL.) Colby is the star. Two thumbs up for Anaid for the rec!

Picspams! Colby!Picspams! *Is excited* Wantwantwantwant (no pressure, Candi...)

Sadly, can't take part in the challenge - I've been commissioned to write a script (YAY! Seriously - 'big break' time for me but what with work and the script I have NO time for other stuff. Seriously. None. Nada. Nuffink, to the point that my FF readers are really quite cross with me for the lack of updates on my current N3 work - sorry guys!) but am more than happy to add snarky, smart-arsed captions to picspams any day of the week...

Picspams! WOOHOO!

I'm revisiting 2x05 Assassin and just notice that Colby closed his eyes two times at a three while shooting! I posted the pics at my blog, I'm not sure what to do here... :) http://lylemaze.tumblr.com/post/6855283390

I read an interview with a director years ago (buggered if I can remember who now but an A-lister for sure) and he said that the only actor he'd ever known to keep his eyes open when he fired a gun was Clint Eastwood. It's instinctive to flinch and shut your eyes when you first fire a weapon (which is why you usually end up missing the damn target). 2x05 is still very much Newbie!Colby, and up until that point DB hadn't done a lot of shooting or weapons work in his previous projects. If you watch him later on in the series, he's much more relaxed and confident with a gun and has his eyes open when shooting. I notice that AB also tends to have his eyes shut in the early days, but again as time goes on and he gets used to it, his eyes are open too. You get used to the sensation and the noise of a gun discharging close to your face and the instinct to protect the eyes by shutting them lessens. Hence, you get better at hitting whatever you're firing at ( ... )

I know WAY too much about this subject...

I LOVE it!!! and I though he was cute with his eyes closed! But loved all information. Please, keep them coming, as Charlie would say, there's no such thing as too much data!!! (I'm a computer geek!!!) lol

and let me ask, do you know about gun rangers, scores, whatever? I ask because I saw Bones and the FBI agent need to 're-certify' as marksman or something, and his target was all hit in the center, but not even close the precision Don had in 2x20 guns and roses. I always wanted to know what should be Don scores. and Colby said he had the highest one at the team, so... :)

To be honest, it's a long time since I was on a range, and as I'm in the UK things are very different over here where we don't really have the same affinity with guns as our friends across the Pond (and by that I mean the SAFE use of guns as a sport, not as a killy-bangy thing! Our miscreants prefer to get up close and personal over in the UK - our problem is knife crime, rather than gun crime. Somehow I find that more disturbing than gun crime in a way. Anyone (at a push) can pull a trigger. It takes a special kind of crazy to shank someone. Not a good reflection on our current social situation...)

I would imagine that Don's got a pretty high score, but Colby did say that he held the office record, so I would imagine that his score was damn near perfect. In range shooting it's the grouping that really pushes your score up (as we saw when Charlie blew the crap out of the target during his FBI training course).

Like I said, I haven't been shooting for many years, but have since moved back towards my first love of martial arts.
