Welcome to:

The Cross Marian Debt Fund

The Current Amount Is:
23,916,215

Background
Exorcist General Cross Marian (of D.Gray-man) resided in Paradisa for several months. During his stay here, he would often spend his time enjoying the luxuries of the town (expensive alcohol, prostitutes, hotels, fine dining, etc etc) - and not paying for a single penny of it. This added to be being a lot of debts, that were left to his idiot apprentice Allen Walker when he departed Paradisa.

The Objective
The objective is simple: Get the debt down to 0.

The Rules
1. Your characters CANNOT get money from the castle for this game. If your character attempts to ask for money from the castle that is meant for this - it will fail. Blame Allen's horrible luck. Otherwise there would be no game.

2. Other than #1, your characters can do WHATEVER THEY LIKE to earn money. Get a job in town (temporary or permanent), gamble, do a charged performance, commit a crime - be creative! However if Allen hears of any attempts that physically harm people - he will turn them into the city police and that will become a setback (explained later).

3. Be reasonable about the amount of money your character earns. You don't have to worry about exact amounts, but do keep in mind - there is no paper boy that earns 1,000,000 a week. The amounts they earn towards the debt fund should be a bit realistic to the type of job/money earning scheme they are doing.

4. Yes, crime and con-artistry is allowed. Allen Walker himself is earning his part by cheating people at cards. Therefore he can't talk if your methods are a bit..shady. However the line is drawn at physical harm towards people. And keep in mind - there's always a chance your shady actions could get caught by the wrong people.

5. SETBACKS CAN HAPPEN. There are ways where instead of lowering the debt, your character can RAISE it. If any characters participating cause property damage in the city, get arrested and need to pay bail, gain debts from failed gambling attempts or have any other mishaps that would result in fees - those fees will get ADDED to the total debt amount. How much the setback is up to the mun.

6. It's up to the mun how their attempts are done In-Game. You can make a giant plot over an attempt, or just imply your character is working in the city. Whatever you feel like doing is fine. The only request is you make a comment in this post under the appropriate thread saying what the character is doing and how much money they are earning or setting it back by so it's easy to keep track :D

7. Any large plots or attempts needs to get mod approval. Pretty much if you feel like something would need mod approval - play it safe and submit to the plot post here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What was the starting amount?
A: Officially Cross left behind 2,173,612,864 of the town's currency. However for the sake of mercy, Allen and Teresa cut the starting amount down to 543,403,216 (1/4 of the original amount) by begging and threatening debt collectors. Guess which one did which.

Q: How do we get our characters involved?
Currently its by word of mouth. If you want your character involved, either talk to Allen or anyone else participating in-game. After they hear about the debt - they are free to participate to their heart's desire. Later down the road we might come up with an easier way to get involved (maybe a notice board on the first floor?) - but for now it's word of mouth.

Q: How involved do our characters have to be? What if we want to do our own plots/losses?
A: You can be involved as much or as little as you wish to be. There is no requirement to participate in this. If you want your characters to have their own plots and losses, go for it. If there is a Castle-wide plot, this will be put on pause if the town is not available. This sort of serves as a background thing more than anything that the characters could be doing in between training and eating - as well as potential for CR and plots.

Q: What do I get out of this by involving a character?
A: Several things! I'll list them off:
1) Opens up CR potential: Maybe your character starts working at the same restaurant as another character, or get conned by one of the more shady characters. There's a lot of possibilities.
2) Opens up Plot Potential: How far will your characters go to earn money? Will they start up special events like plays to earn money, will they try a hand at crime fighting, or will they be the criminal themselves?
3) It Gives Your Character Something to Do: Instead of having a character feeling bored all the time, they will have reasons to go into the city and work - something to take up their time. It might be great for muns who have characters who are feeling particularly restless but need motivation to go out and get a job.
4) Gets Them Involved with the City: Want your characters to do more in the city? This could be your chance.

Q: How long is this expected to last?
A: FOREEEEEVER. Or at least until they hit zero which might be a long while. This isn't a short term plot, this a long term background thing to do.

Q: What currency should we use as a reference when deciding amounts?
A: Since the majority of muns (including myself) are Americans, we will use the United States Dollar for a reference point when deciding wages. If you are not familiar with US wages, you can find a currency converter here. And keep in mind, the US dollar is just a REFERENCE point - the money in Paradisa is NOT American dollars.

Q: If it's not called a dollar, what is it?
A: Paradisa's currency is called a Caiso. Thanks DJ for the answer to this! &hearts

Q: If they manage to hit 0, what happens?
A: Pretty much if this happens the reward will vary for each person depending on how throughly involved they've been in making the debt going away.

Anyone who Participated: Will have confetti thrown around them out of no where. If they enter town that day, random townspeople will come up and congratulate and applaud them. Pretty much imagine this scene but with towns people.

Anyone who Participated 4 weeks/times or more: Will receive a precious item from home. A photograph, a weapon, a device, a pet - it's up to the mun to decide.

Anyone who Participated 8 weeks/time or more: Will have the option of having a free canon update (aka, without a loss or death) if they desire along with the precious item.
Q: Can I put a range on how much they make for their continuous income?
A: Yes, you can! What will happen then each Sunday I will do a dice roll (the size of dice depends on the range and what I think would work best for it) and that will determine in what part of the range that the character made for that week.

EXAMPLE:
Yugito has several jobs and all together they can bring in anywhere from 100 to 10,000 per week. In order to determine her weekly salary, I will roll a 100 sided dice (one side for each hundreds place).

If I roll 51 - she will earn 5,100 for the week.
If I roll 1 - she will earn 100
If I roll 100 (or the highest number on the dice) - she will earn the high end of her range and get the full 10,000.

In addition to that, people with range salaries get the chance of encountering the Trump/Fail System

Q: What's the Trump/Fail System?
For those familiar with AD&D might be familiar with this. Essentially, each week I roll for each person with a ranged salary to see what they get. With the Trump or Fail Chance, if they get highest number on the dice, that character gets double their weekly salary (aka, a Trump). Maybe they got a bonus for doing a good job, they found money on the street, they won a small lottery - it's up to you decide HOW they got it if you wish.

However if I roll the lowest number (usually a 1) in the same fashion, that character will get a FAIL and lose some of their wage for the week (to be nice I'll do a roll to see HOW much they lose instead of making them lose it all). Like the trump, it's up to you how your character got a failed. Maybe they got mugged by the person who got the trump, they broke something at work, etc etc.

Q: Is it too late to join the game since it started?
A: Nope! As long as there is still money to be earned, it's never too late to join. Just comment with your characters income and they will be included in the following week's post!
