RIP Joe Rollino

They are among us.

They look like us, but they are not like us.

They are not angels, devils, or saints. They may have been worshiped once, and they still might be in dark corners of the world.

The establishment has a habit of burning them at the stake, or having them shot by someone they don't know. Usually the killer has no skills except being both terribly cruel and common.

These are the men and women who can do things beyond the spectrum of normal human abilities.

You have definitely had moment with one in your own life. You met one in your travels. You may have paid for the experience. As likely as not you stumbled on them by accident.

You will be spellbound for a moment by what they can do. Or maybe just how they can inspire people to make change.

The optimists will marvel at what they felt, heard, or saw. They will tell their friends about it, and wonder how they might become like them. More than human.

The pessimist might downplay their differences and criticize them for their devotions, or for their oddity. I suspect they secretly wish to shine as brightly. Lesser men sometimes kill great men for no reason other than to be famous themselves.

Whatever your stance. It cannot be denied that they change us, and make us re-evaluate what is possible or impossible.

For me, the re-evaluation of what is possible is the true definition of hope.

Rest in peace Joe.
