I'm starting to find
obama_2008 incredibly annoying for how much it dominates my flist. The fact that it's the convention has made it go from bad to worse. I mean, seriously, do we really need three separate people squeeing over Obama officially being nominated in a row? Even articles, images and video clips are double-sometimestriple-posted...on the same day. Fucking hell my flist is like 90% "OMG I HAD THE SADDEST DREAM THAT OBAMA DIDN'T WIN THE NOMINATION :'(".
The mods got super upset and very involved when some people said some un-PC things way back when (I forget what it was, but it was ridiculously tame by Internet standards), but that's it. Double-posts and people talking about how they named their kittens Sasha and Malia are apparently perfectly fine...even if it's the same fucking people.
If I were a mod...oh the rules I would institute. I bet all the little starfuckers would get really upset that I thought the fact that their alphabet soup spelled "Obama" wasn't worthy of wasting people's flist space. I'd put up "Gameday Posts" like the ones we instituted in
chicagocubs way back when...only instead of Gamedays it'd be, um, "All-Those-Stories-You-Think-Are-So-Cute-But-Really-Just-Waste-Bandwidth Posts". It'd be glorious.
Anyway, it's all very annoying, uninformative and eyeroll. It's like being a member of a Harry Potter fangirl community, only a few of the posts are truly informative and helpful...which is why I haven't left.
It's a turn-off, though. I don't talk to people about how I'm an Obama supporter as much as I used to and I think it's because I'm afraid I'm going to look like one of them. Then again, it could be worse...I could be for the other guy and I'd be complaining about all the snotty trust-fund babies, Bible-thumpers and white trash that make us "rational" McCain supporters look bad. On second thought...things aren't so bad. At least I don't have that shit to contend with.
Side note...I need to make less posts about this trivial stuff and more about what's going on in my life.
