In which our heroine stares into space and kinda twitches a little

I have new work! I started at a sushi shop that opened almost literally just around the corner from my flat. (Ironically, none of the Japanese restaurants in Aberdeen are Japanese run: The Chef Jang is Korean, Yatai's are Scottish, and Oryza Sushi, where I work, is owned and run by a very nice Chinese woman.) This is my second week, the shop's third of being open, and things have been going quite well...apart from a renegade sesame seed shaker that decided (on three occasions) to burst open and carpet the counter with sesame seeds. Two of those were right in front of the customer whose sushi I was rolling at the time. Twitch.

Yesterday was a nasty, nasty day during lunchtime, so business stayed fairly slow. Today looked to be the same, worse even, then suddenly at about 1:00 WHAM, half of the office buildings emptied their contents into our shop! Jiaolan and I were running around half crazed, barely remembering what salmon looked like, much less who had ordered what. We managed (somehow) to keep it together, and by the time I left at 2:15 things were calm, quiet, and there was no sign that we had been full to the brim only half an hour before.

Food services. Not an occupation for the faint of nerve. Mrs. Bennet would have a heart attack.
