Soooooo here is yet another lovely thing that made me spend money...
Sid has a computer. Which she loves.
Computer hardly gets used these days for fear of things going wrong.
Well... the other day things started to go wrong. Like... no USB ports. Oh, and apparently no sound card! HAHAHAAHAHAHA!
So, being the tech freak I am, I decided I'd had it with my motherboard. It's a PC CHIPS board (which came with the machine and I would never recommend to anyone). I was considering using my tax return to buy a new monitor... but after much thought and the consulting of others, a motherboard/processor upgrade was the better way to go.
So I phone my local shop and ask for the best board they had that would support all my components. He laughed at me.
LAUGHED.
The last board by ASUS (yes, I want ASUS) that would support my stuff had been discontinued! I went on the net to confirm this, and alas, it is true. The ASUS website listed one board that I could use... *sigh*.
So, I thought it over, and thought, "Fine, I'll just buy the last board that is out there."
But then, if I did that, I'd have to upgrade it again in the near future (since it wasn't much better than my old board).
So I decided what the hell... I'll buy a P5 board. Which of course means new components and all that stuff.
So after much money going bye-bye, my computer is being upgraded.
Here's my new (kinda) rig!
P5LD2 ASUS Motherboard
1GB DDR2 RAM @ 667mhz
Thermaltake Butterfly 480W PSU
200 GB SATA HDD
Secondary 80GB IDE HDD
PCI-E nVIDIA GeFORCE 6800GS
Intel P4 64-bit 3.2 Ghz Processor
So what does everyone think? Am I missing something? If you have a suggestion let me know please! (And don't tell me I can't connect that PSU to the MOBO.. I know already and have bought a 20 to 24 pin adapter) My monitor will have to come later.... but I'll get it eventually (and the extra DVI cable too)
YAY
