seriously?
The economic crisis has officially hit my company.
Yesterday they fired 20 people at my job. 2 of my closest collegues were part of this cut.
They put us in 2 rooms... one very large room and one small one. They took Ian (who sits beside me and makes my day fun!!!) and put him in another room... I immediately knew something was up. Our boss came in and told us this was the hardest day at Millipore for him. He talked about the changes happening in the company... and then he said while we're sitting in this room there's another group of people being told that they lost their job.
My heart immediately fell. No joke. I then started looking around the room to find out who was in the room still and who wasn't. Not only do we lose Ian but Kamila is leaving as well. I'm not sure if you remember... but I posted a pic of them back in April or something, those two are leaving.
I can't tell you how devestated I am. I feel so angry... I'm losing my friends. I know that I work hard at my job and I know that I deserve my position... but it's hard to see other people let go. Basically on my team it was me or Ian and they chose me. On Kamila's team it was her or Jenni.... it's like one or the other.
But the real kick in the ass... the one that's pissing me off... they kept Dave.... the guy I recommended and had drive me up the wall when he was here. He's been here less time than both Ian and Kamila, he works much slower, and he doesn't deserve to be there. And this decision was based not on this... but on the fact that since we've divided up into regions, he's the only one on his region that can do Contract File. Not that he's the best at it... just that in his team he can do it. Why the hell didn't they move Kamila or Ian????
I know that me bringing this up to management isn't going to make a difference, but I still intend to. I want to talk to them and tell them that they fucked up yet again. We're losing 2 extremely valuable people and no one seems to care.
