I've been listening to The Shins's Wincing the NIght Away. And when I looked up the lyrics to find a title, I was struck by the poignance.

I am on a never-ending search for colleges. I like some out-of-state ones, but they're too expensive for me to really be able to go there. If I get the Flinn, I'll go probably to ASU, but to quote Bartleby, "I'd prefer not to." And, my chances of getting that scholarship are very scanty, anyway.
