The New Cat
”I didn’t know you liked kittens, Malfoy,” Ron said teasingly as he sat down on the floor next to Draco, who had a small kitten on his lap. Ron leaned back against the stone wall behind them and crossed his legs.
“Oh, sod off, Weasley,” came the curt answer.
“I don’t even see you outside of classes anymore,” Ron said, watching Draco’s pale hand as it stroked the kitten’s white fur.
“Maybe that would make you learn to appreciate me a bit more,” Draco replied with his haughty tone.
“That won’t happen in a million years.” Ron smiled. Who was he fooling? He appreciated him already. Oh, how he appreciated the stupid git.
“Who owns that cat?” asked Ron.
“Me.”
“Why have I never seen it before?”
“It’s a her. And she’s new.”
Silence.
“Er ... how new?” Ron tried.
“I got her a week ago.”
“Right.”
Ron was getting tired of being ignored in favour of a cat. “Haven’t you petted her enough? And she’s sleeping!”
“As I said before: Sod off, Weasley.”
Ron was having none of that. He grasped the cat gently - as Draco scolded and blushed with rage - and placed her gently on a transfigured cushion.
“See, nothing happened. And I’m sure she’s more comfortable on that cushion that on your bony legs.”
“Watch your mouth-“ Draco started but was interrupted by Ron landing heavily on his lap.
“It’s my turn to be petted, don’t you agree?” Ron whispered in Draco’s ear.
“Oh, Merlin! Where did you learn such a line?” Draco exclaimed and shuddered in disgust. His arms went around Ron’s shoulders, though.
“Not important,” Ron whispered as he kissed a trail up Draco’s neck towards his ear. “I missed you.”
Draco shivered and tightened his arms around Ron’s neck. “Did you?” He was trying to sound nonchalant, Ron could tell, but his voice shook slightly. He pressed his lips against Draco’s mouth, partly to shut him up and to get something of his taste. Kissing Draco always made Ron’s toes curl with pleasure. Draco was very responsive, sliding his lips against Ron’s and running his tongue teasingly over his bottom lip. His hands were in Ron’s hair, tugging at the red strands. He never held anything back.
One of Ron’s hands found its way under Draco’s shirt and he ran his palm hungrily up and down Draco’s back. Ron knew it was crazy to continue in the middle of a hallway, but Draco was making those sounds now and Ron could feel Draco’s hardness against his thigh.
When a light, but uncomfortable, weight settled on his foot and a weird, high-pitched voice reached his ears, Ron ignored it, choosing instead to fasten his mouth against Draco’s pulse point.
“Hmm, get off, Ron.” Draco began pushing Ron's head away.
“Why?”
“I think she’s hungry.”
“Who?”
“My cat, of course.”
Ron finally noticed the cat that was currently staring up at them with big, round eyes. Draco picked her up as Ron grunted in frustration.
