So my husband turned 30 on Tuesday. Last night at his birthday party, I learned that my father-in-law can play the harmonica. Autumn the cat was like this =^O_o^= She stared at him - totally bug-eyed. Autumn does not like harmonica music.
Autumn is also quite the little tree monster. She climbs up in it and bats ornaments out of it... We will never have a beautiful Christmas tree. Ever. We got a great tree skirt, but if you try to fluff it she runs out from under the tree and bites you. She thinks it's her tree. We are considering getting a little one for us.
I am getting really good at making homemade cakes. I have mastered the chocolate and lemon cakes.
For the Christmas party I made a chocolate cake and filled it with chocolate mousse and frosted it with chocolate buttercream and then poured ganache over it. It was really good. Then I made my hubby's cake. It was lemon butter cake filled with lemon curd and lemon cream cheese frosting. It was yummy!
I am making the chocolate cupcakes with ganache for my sis in law's Christmas party. I found the cutest cupcake wrappers with little snowman flags you can put in the cakes. I'm also making puppy chow, Holiday Fruit Drops, white chocolate cookies and Russian Tea. I think I may also be in charge of the tea sandwiches. Woot!
I am getting ready to make cookies this year. I am excited because I am making some fun and challenging ones. I am making chocolate chip, chocolate crinkles, lemon crinkles, peanut butter, coco kiss cookies, Holiday Fruit Drops, Date fingers, Double Chocolate Chip, Vermont maple, coffee fruit Drops, fudge meltaways and spice meltaways. Should be so good!
I got DDR for XBox 360. It's really fun! That and Slim Fast should help me get slim for Disney World so I can just go pack back on pounds in Fla. But it will be worth it.
Everyone at my hubby's work party wanted to know when we were gonna have kids. It's a hard subject when you're trying. *sigh* I know a lot of people who are pregnant or got pregnant easily. Makes it all a bit depressing. Here's to hoping for a miracle. >.< Put me on your prayer lists.
Must find shipping boxes. Why has Walmart taken away my boxes! This may be the last year I can do cookie mailing. To ship them all will be $70+. My mother keeps adding people to my list. There are like 5 folks she's added. I may just have to cut down my list or start buying ingredients earlier. Maybe I should try making fewer cookies, but I like to have something new and challenging. Makes it more fun. My 'cookies I want to make' list is kinda long >_>
Mom bought me Wilton icing tips. I just have to learn how to use them. I should take a class, but they make you buy kits. Still it would be fun.
Alabama did so well this football season. I was really proud of them. they could have beaten Florida. They just sort of fell over themselves. Coach Saban apologized. I don't think he needed to. So happy with them. Hope they stomp Utah... sorry Wendy. I know you love Alabama too ^^
It's nice the giant Christmas party is over. It took me a week to set up, six hours to finish and two days to tear down and box up. Plus I still have more to do. *sigh* It didn't help that all the yard decorations my parents donated, a donated Christmas tree, all of our tree decorations and some of the toys were stolen! It was so stressful, but it worked out.
I have seen two cool memes out there that I am going to go steal.
