En12 is ruining my life

En12 makes me feel incredibly slow and stupid.

I've been dreading the writing of the research paper, and we've already started the process - dipping our toes into the treacherous waters, if you will. We're having exercises on paraphrasing, summarizing and direct quotation, just like in high school...

Except in high school, the selections we had to paraphrase/summarize/quote directly from were relatively easy to understand and boring but in a tolerable kind of way.

The assignment Sir assigned us for Wednesday?

Piece of shit, let me tell you.

We have to paraphrase two paragraphs and summarize one section from an essay called The Undead. The title doesn't tell you much, but the subtitle under it goes into a little bit more detail: Notes on Photography in the Philippines, 1898-1920s.

Sounds a little interesting, right?

Unfortunately, it isn't. Not the slightest bit. It just prattles on about war photographs, gamely throwing around big words and terms that you can't make sense of even after reading it ten times.

Honestly, it's making me question why the hell I'm in En12, considering my comprehension skills appear to be completely shit. While I was working on the paraphrasing last night, it was like words were escaping me. They were on the tip of my tongue, but they refused to make themselves known. It was horrible.

Just my luck to be saddled with a professor who is apparently very meticulous about research paper writing.

Speaking of research papers, I have to redo two of my proposals because they're too general. *tears hair out* It's not exactly easy to find Filipino primary sources upon which you can base your paper on.

I'm going to be so glad when this is over.
