refuz and I set out for a nice bike ride in central park this morning (because man, it was like 70°), and we got about 2 miles into it before somehow managing to crash into one another. He was fine, I headed facefirst into the curb and fence. Not actually injured or anything, but my well-loved glasses snapped a hinge.
So there we are in the middle of central park on bikes, I can't see worth crap, and I've forgotten my wallet (and MetroCard!) and I've got a job interview in 3 hours. We found our way to the nearest LensCrafters, who declared that nope, they cannot fix my glasses. We set off to a different LensCrafters several blocks away, where they could take the prescription off my old glasses and make me a new pair, so I found myself a schmancy new pair of green glasses.
(and made it to my interview just barely on time.) It was possibly THE most intimidating interview situation ever, where I was ushered into a formal dining room-style meeting room with like 8 imposing white people in suits, but I think it went pretty well.
Boy and I then had a fantastic dinner at
Candle 79, which I recommend to every veg*n and omnivore-who-needs-to-be-convinced-that-vegan-food-can-be-amazing. Blew my mind. I had ancho-spiced tempeh in a mole sauce with kale and mashed sweet potatoes. Whaaaaaaat.
Oh, and then I just got an email offering me the job. (Which would be for my field education internship next year, where I would work with 2 other seminary interns and this whole committee of mentors to do fun education/youth work/mission stuff.) I want to see if the internship in Brooklyn works out, but otherwise I'm going to take this one. Which would mean that I sorted out the whole field ed thing in less than a week, and would be making more than the required minimum. Not bad, really.
